Problem ripping numbers in subrip

Hi, first of all I'd like to say your site is amazing.
I need help in ripping numbers on Subrip from an hebrew vobsub,
because when I rip it the numbers are reversed.

for example: in the vobsub its: 1996 ,but after the rip in SRT file its: 6991.

Can any one help me with this one? Is there somthimg in the options that can help me with this?

in options> global options in subrip there is a box for right2left processing : did you tick that?
-if you didn't, tick it
-if you did, it looks like a bug to me(or are numbers in hebrew supposed to be left to right? I know nothing about it, but if you reverse all text, logically numbers would be reversed too), I can't say I've ever dealt with that type of subs myself...anyway you can
-try subresync(part of vobsub), load your idx and save as...srt
-open the srt in notepad(or subtitle workshop if you like it pretty) and change the lines manually(It can't take too long, unless your subs are made of numbers only :D )
-save everything in left to right, load the srt in subtitle workshop, edit> select all> / edit>subtitles> right to left> reverse text.(if numbers are meant to be left to right, that won't be much use though)

Just tell us when /if you fixed it it, or what is the easiest workaround for you :)

thanks niamh for responseding so quickly to my question.
I tried to rip the vobsub in SubResync, but it didnt help.
The numbers still came out reversed. When I dont tick in subrip right2left processing, the numbers came out great, but the text comes out... reversed. :(

and i dont wont to change the numbers manually because maybe for 1 movie its not hard, but I have a big collection of movies that I wont to rip subtitles from them.

Then it's a general issue and you would need to make a request to zuggy(subrip) and gabest(vobsub) to correct the problem.Unfortunately, both are very absent.If I understand correctly,Hebrew is right to left, but numbers are left to right? :D That's vicious, isn't it?

If there is such an option in microsoft office spell checker, then you can use it on subtitle workshop, it uses it for spell checking.Actually, maybe, subtitle workshop converts correctly.Unfortunately it doesn't take vobsub.Try ripping to srt without right 2left, then set hebrew chracters in options>general>charset in subtitle workshop(then reverse text) and see does it work? Once installed you can get the developper's email in the about tab too.I reckon it's probably a problem that nobody was aware of.


ADDED: Have you tried a more advanced txt format, like ssa?

I have the same problem (also hebrew subs).
Yes hebrew is a right-to-left language, but the numbers are left-to-right...:rolleyes:

Many apps have problem with this, not only with numbers but also punctuation characters.

In any case, (LTR or RTL) subrip places the punctuations wrongly.
Luckily Subtitle workshop fixes this with ease:
Edit->subtitles->Right-to-left->Fix Punctuation.
After that everything is perfect, except numbers...:mad:

And I tried to save in other formats with subrip - same result.
The problem is not with vobsub, it's with subrip (because even opening the sub without vobsub - like in BSplayer gives the same results.

I was site hopping today, browsing along, and i stumbled on these apps that claim to convert to hebrew. It would be nice if you'd test them and post back if one of those at least does the job properly :)

I suppose these problems are related to BIDI (Bidirectional Algorithm (http://www.unicode.org/unicode/reports/tr9/)). The similar problem happens for the exclamation mark (!) at the very end of the line in Hebrew, if your system langauge is l-to-r,
like "Sha L O M !" (logical order) gets
"M O L Sha !" (display) while it should be
"! M O L Sha" (display)
(this can be fixed by using RLM U+200E

As niamh says, at least SSA (in UTF-16) with (some of) Gabest's filters does support BIDI, probably using Windows's native functions.
I agree that typing RLM etc. is not very comfortable, but anyway :)
