real alternative vs realmedia spiltter

I now realmedia spiltter needs realplayer installed but are there any advantages other then playing. Does it support more media players then real alternative ,does it support avistyn?

The splitter and reals codecs should work in any dshow player/app, which yes does include AVISynth via directshowsource().
