Hi all,

I just bought a Dazzle DVC90 and started making tests to convert my old home videos from S-VHS tapes to DVD.

The capturing (using the included Studio 9 from Pinnacle) is going fine, in AVI format (to be recompressed later with TMPGEnc) and also directly into MPEG-2 format (although I prefer the quality of TMPGEnc).

No frames dropped, video output ok.

I have a couple of problems, though, for which I found nothing in the FAQ or the guides:

1)If I capture from (SVHS or VHS) tapes, I get a line at the bottom of the screen with noise in it. See here as example:

I don't get the same error if I capture from the same Video Recorder, but from TV signal:

2) After some time (some or several minutes) the input signal goes Black & White:

What should I check?

Thanks a lot for your suggestions

I forgot to add this: the "noise lines" are clearly visible also in the preview window of Studio 9.

They are visible also when I capture from another program (i.e.: Nero Vision Express) and in any output format / resolution / bitrate.

Update:
The black & white issue didn't appear again in the following tests...maybe a connection problem? The VCR is S-VHS and outputs in S-VIDEO format, as DVC90 wants.

The lines at the bottom are normal with any VHS capture, they should be cropped out afterwards.

Don't know what could be causing intermittent black and white, unless it's a loose connection in your s-video cable.

Thanks for the answer :)

After checking some screenshots in the capture guide, where some lines at the bottom are also visible, I had the suspect that it's a common thing. Now I feel better, I don't have an hardware/software problem :D

The B&W issue didn't appear again, let's cross fingers and hope ;)
