I've read that you can watch SVCD discs in WMP 6.4 as long as you have an MPEG-2 decoder installed, but that there can be a variety of display issues (wrong aspect ratio, audio sync problems, etc.) depending on the particular MPEG-2 decoder used.
Has anyone had good luck with a particular MPEG-2 decoder within WMP 6.4 for watching SVCD?

From my limited experience, I would recommend Mediaplayer Classic (MPC). No matter which filter you use, wmp6.4 will not open svcds natively, you always have to open the files manually. MPC will play svcd natively.

Thanks for the tip! I already had MPC for playing the occassional QuickTime and Real files...didn't realize it had built-in MPEG2/SVCD codec until you mentioned it. :)
