Hi there

I am having issues with Windows Media Player 9, running on Windows XP SP1. The brightness/contrast settings are perfect on my desktop and with other apps, but when i view video's in WMP they are dark and i have to push up the brightness in WMP to view properly. The settings used to be fine, so i'm not sure what went wrong. I have Gordian Knot's latest codec pack installed... I am running an Nvidia 32meg geforce 3.
Would appreciate any advice...
Thanks
John

I noticed this too on a GeForce4, except with Windows media Player 6.4 (in XP SP1). If I open a new WMP window alongside the first WMP window, this new window's video is much brighter than the first. Do you also get this effect?

Not that I can see- it seems just as dark. i'm going to play around with some other players (maybe zoomplayer or the like) and see what happens. I just thought maybe it was a setting on one of the filters that comes with the gknot codec pack (such as ffdshow). will let you know if i find a solution.

Yes it could be a setting in ffdshow, or it could be a setting in the video overlay controls of your graphics card drivers.

u could try deactivating 'use overlays' under advanced options of the wmp9, maybe that will help.
