Back when I first got my capture card, I had Pentium 233 MMX and I was happy to capture 352x288 at 25 fps. Higher and I'd get lines in my capture and dropped frames, and I wouldn't dare touch the system during capture as it was bound to drop frames.

Then I upgraded to a Pentium III 933 and with the same card, could now capture full frame (768x576) with Huffyuv, except that it still had lines in it. I think this was due to PCI issues on the VIA chipset. So I was mainly capturing at a very maximum of 480x576 and putting up with the occasional distorted line in the capture.

Finally on my new PC, a 3 GHz P4 with HT, I am capturing full frame 768x576 huffyuv for the first time with my ancient capture card, with no visual problems or dropped frames. Not only that, but there's plenty enough power to actually play Quake 3 while I capture, at a steady 85 fps with no dropped frames in the capture! I just think that's awesome.

Yeah - technology has finally caught up - your box even has enough grunt to capture HD digital as well with no problems (once you commit your dear old capture card to the scrap heap that is:p and get something a bit newer!)

Blasphemy! This ancient piece of hardware is still running great, it's been in FOUR of my PCs now...

I actually desoldered the TV tuner part off the board and removed all but the S-Video/composite plugs... heehee.
