Can I encode a video in RV10 from Vdub? How can I do?

It's impossible ^^

Check in the "RealVideo 9" sticky to find what tools you can use to encode in RV10.

You are right, in fact I looked at it before, but it's quite complicated...
I tried with dvx but I didn't know how to load the rv10 plugin..
I only have to encode a dv-avi, I usually use only avisynth and vdub...
:(

What kind of source do you want to convert?

Real/Helix producer reads DV-avis through DirectShow natively. You can use any GUI you want for encoding. If you want something which is easy to use, you'll need to wait some days before I'll get my new GUI ready.

Not another GUI :( ;)

Ok I think I can use RealAnime 2.00RC1,
do I need to install a RV10 codec (like RealVideo 10 HFE2 package)? Is it included?
Can you explain me in a few words?
Thank you!

Sirber

Fellow these expert steps:

1) Download RealAnime 2.00RC1
2) Make sure windows is running
3) Install the software with default options
4) Start the software
5) Drag files (AVIs) in input tab
6) Config the bitrate in output tab
7) If you want, config the settings in settings tab (Default are great though)
8) Go in Producer tab and press start.

Good luck ;) :D

do I need to install a RV10 codec (like RealVideo 10 HFE2 package)?

Of course I think I can use realanime also with non-anime video files (standard movies)!:p

RealAnime installer contain everything you need, except decoding codecs for xvid/divx/mp3/etc.Of course I think I can use realanime also with non-anime video files (standard movies)!Sorry mate, RealAnime works only with anime. :( ;)

nicco

What version of RV10 does it contain?

I'll try it tomorrow morning...with a NON-anime movie;) :D

I'm still a bit confused

I installed realanime then input-drag avs file (What kind of avi does it accept? Can I load avs?)-set encoding options, but in Rate control I can not find "Elysian mode"-start producer and I get this warning "Warning sorce may be unsupported.Using DirectShowSource":(

Another question:
after encoded I have a *.rmvb file
Can I play it only with RealPlayer?
Thx:rolleyes:

That is OK. If your source is DV AVI as you stated earlier and you don't do resizing etc. in Avisynth, you don't need to use Avisynth at all. Elysian mode should be on by default.

The matroska guys did some sort of DirectShow filter for these files.

RC2 will support AVS.What you can do in the meantime, is to load directly your AVI in RealAnime, then put your AVS in Filtering.

Thank you!
Finally I made my first RV10 videoclip and I'm really amazed of its quality compared to other mp4(divx for ex)
Only a further question:
How can I see the average bitrate, type of frame,..., of the final movie? (In the encoding option I set 900 average and 1000 max)

Sirber
20th July 2004, 13:24
Hi

In output tab, set 900 in average. Be sure Max is 5 times bigger than average. About the type of frames, in Settings,Video you can choose how BFrames will work. The rest is auto.

I can play the RV10-mkv in MPClassic, but not in BSPlayer....

download gabest's realmedia splitter (from the same site where you got MPC, i hope ;) )

What do I have to do with this *.ax file?

If you only use 1 video stream and 1 audio stream, in Real format, you should keep RMVB for compatibility.

I have an RMVB too, but is the same, I can not open with BSPlayer or WMPlayer

Can explain?

My problem is not to open RVfiles in RealPlayer for me, but becouse my works usually are for friends and other peoples, I have to give them a final user-friendly product. In a few words: people just want to double-click on a file and watch it, or at least double-click on a *exe file (video codec installer) before.
The solution would be to make them double-click on RealPlayer installer, but I wish to know if there are other possibilities, more similar to the "classical" avi-WMPlayer procedure

And...How can I do if I want to convert-back a RV10 fine into an AVI file?

And finally I say that RV10 is amazing and it's much better than the latest divx...

Thank you for your patience :)

Sirber

You need RealMedia Splitter from gabest (included in MPC). RealMedia files need tweaks to play on other player.

I noticed that RV10 tends to smooth the picture, sometimes too much, can you give me some encoding settings so I'm sure to do everything in the rigt way? I have to encode an avi file and I want to reach a very good quality

And what if you test it with your own source? :p What other think is not important, what you think is. :)

nicco
21st July 2004, 13:32
My sources are DV-AVI, difficult to encoding, becouse they don't have the quality of DVD, and becouse they are often very noisy due to the non professional camcoder and even dark (especially shots on internals)
In this kind of situation RV10 take advantage of its smoothness, especially at not very high bitrate, codecs like divx in fact produce blocking artifacts, take a look here
(http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79932)

For movies needing high details preservation it can be a "bug", I don't know at very high bitrates (over 1200Kbps), I didn't do any tests...

Maybe RV10 has an its own purpose, which I still have to understand in details.

I discovered this new codec only a few days ago and I'm very well impressed.

Sirber

Low bitrate always mean detail destruction. MPEG4 do blocking, rigning, muskitonoising while RV do smoothing. Use the one you prefer :)
