Hi,

I've been using AVI_IO with VfW drivers and Win98SE for some time now. It's a great capture utility but it prematurely stops captures and gives me a disk full message when in fact I have plenty of disk space left.

For example, I set it's timer to capture 12 hours continuous using PicVideo's MJPEG codec. I set two drives under it's list of destinations, the first with 130 gigs free and the second with 80 gigs free. This gave me a total of 210 gigs of availabe capture space. The capture averages about 12 gigs/hour so 12 hours would it require 144 gigs.

However, AVI_IO stopped after 10 hours with the disk full message. I looked at my drives afterwards and while AVI_IO did in fact save the capture file to both drives, the first drive still had 67 gigs free and the second had 45 gigs free.

Anyone know why it stops capturing eventhough there is plenty of space still left on the assigned drives?

problem solved.

avi_io will produce a maximum of 100 segemented files for each capture session. once the capture has reached 100 files, it will give you a disk full message regardless if you still have more disk space left.

while you can't increase this file count, you can increase how large each of the 100 files can be. i changed the default of 2 gig to 3.8 gigs. while i still am limited to 100 segments, each segment now holds much mope video capture so i was able to capture the full 12 hours.
