Second vote for ERMP. All other fully-featured GUIs crash for me :P and ERMP really beats manual jobfile editing.

ha ya, true nice to have a gui:P and works great with avs. It didn't seem to support mkv though, and the insturtions are in chinnse how do you get about doing that exactly?

I don't need the docs because I already know what the options do :p
Such things can be found from Karl's posts here and the Helix docs.
Only thing I don't get is that thing you asked me about once.. the tri-state checkboxes :\

So the checkmark means that it points it to the newrc settings and the box useing default real 10 encoder settings. If you wanted to use the old rate control would you put the high bitrate reduce to 80 and then give a check So the checkmark means that it points it to the newrc settings which is the high bitrate reduce and then uses the old rate control? The box is useing default real 10 encoder settings?

if you leave New Rate Control in its 'default' state (the 2nd picture), this means it is OFF, and the old rate control will be used. Then all the settings that apply to the new rate control (for instance high bitrate reduce) will simply be ignored.

Hmm then whats the point in useing highbitratereduce to mkae it use the old rate control for extremely low bitrates if the old settings willa apply. Also the settings in the first stage with the box filled in, which that be default and not be used:confused:, i sorri i finding this quick confuseing.

I am not sure I understand the question. It should not be confusing. If you do not use the New Rate Control, none of the settings in the New Rate Control settings box have any effect.
For low bitrates, I recommend either
1) use the old rate control, or
2) use the new rate control, with High Bitrate Reduce set to 80 or so.

Why don't you test yourself and find out which is better? :/
