I have some problems to reproduce with the Philips 630/2 (adjourned FW) some DivX and Xvid with audio AC3. With the first one I often have some small blocks with the, according to small blocks, loss of audio and following desincronizzazione Audio/video... Converting the audio in MP3 the problem disappears..

it is a problem/limitation of this Player or do I have to correct anything?

There are here some GSpots of the tests that I have done...

Thanks

Hi henryxp, welcome to the Doom9 forum.

Would you be able to burn some test files onto CD~R and try them on your player for me?

Cheers

Hi again,

I'm interested to know if the DVP630 can play Mpeg4/mp3 streams that are stored in the MP4 container.

Can you try this DVP630_Test_01_MP4 (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/seemoredigital/DVP630_Test_01_MP4.zip) please?

It's just a very short file but I do have some others you can try including some Mpeg4/ac3 in AVI

Many thanks

However, you have confirmed my suspicions that the DVP630/632 can play MP4 contained encodes...

This is great news because it means this is Europe's first player to do so and as such complements the USA and Canada's version DVP642.

Nice one, thanks very much... I might go out and buy one of these myself :D

How do I do to get a format video what you have made me try?
GSPOT doesn't recognize such format and on the PC I succeed in reproducing only it with " VLC ".

You can create .MP4 files using quite a few tools but my preferred way is by using mp4UI (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Editing/mp4UI.exe).

The current version of mp4UI is in beta mode and unfortunately it will not let you import an entire Mpeg4/mp3 in AVI file and output an working MP4 file. So you will have to import the Mpeg4 and mp3 streams separately.

You should be able to find quite a bit of information about this around the forum.

There is one very important thing you should know. If you are into making anamorphic XviD or 3ivx encodes, the ESS chip-set (as used in the Philips player) can not cope with anamorphic "DAR" encodes. So only encode using the "PAR" setting!

@SMD: nice of you to answer his question first :p Yes, AVI-mux should work fine. Here's a short XviD/ac3 in AVI test clip (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/seemoredigital/DVP630_Test_02_AVI.zip) that I muxed with it.

I have used avimux GUI leaving the automatic impostations, now the Film is entirely reproduced jerky both on the PC and on the Philips :(

In AVIMuxGui, at least disable "Make Rec Lists" in the AVI options page. Some players dont like this.
Or just use VirtualDubMod.

It works fine for me but like Zhnujm said, it may need further tweeking to run on your player.
