dark area blocking

I recently filtered a project to get rid of ghosting in a VHS capture, with some success. The problem is that in the process of doing this I am left with some severe blocking in all of the darker areas of the film. Do you have a recommendation to filter these areas, without losing the gains I made in the earlier filtering?


here's the sequence I used:

VagueDenoiser(threshold=4, method=0, nsteps=6, chroma=true)
Convolution3D (0, 32, 128, 16, 64, 10, 0)
UnDot()
FluxSmooth(spatial_threshold=7)
MSharpen(threshold=250,strength=250,debug=true)

Are you using XviD for compression?

No, the conversion was already completed to a DVD which I am trying now to clean up.

Problem solved - I used blockbuster "addnoise", which cured the DCT blocking problem very successfully.
