hi, i was thinking what's the best way to sample my output? i would like to encode(with cce)only one middle segment and view it, then make any changes i fell i need. more passes, change the VBR_Bias and Quality_Prec, fitlers and what ever else.
if i change any of these things do i need to do the preparation stage over again?(what i'm trying to ask is does these settings affect the bitrate allocation to the segments?)
thanks

Well the way I sample the output is wait for the first segment or a few segments to encode and drag them into dvd2avi and switch to RGB mode. This gives you the per-pixel accuracy for quality evaluation.

The only sad thing is you cant see how the extras will come out until the disc is almost done. But you can also use tools like ECL Optimizer to view the bitrates and compare them to the source and with experience you can tell if the bitrate is too low or too high.

Well I don't have the experience to tell if the bitrate is too low or too high yet. That’s way I need something more visual. So what I did was open the REBUILDER.ECL in notepad and copy/paste the segments I want (lowest bitrate, the average bitrate and the highest bitrate ones) and then saved that as sampleoutput.ecl in the D2VAVS folder. Then opened it with cce to encode. I also did what you said and viewed the .mpv file with dvd2avi.
I also used RB-Opt to add filters and ran the sampleoutput.ecl till I got what I feel was good
