hey, i have a windows media center edition pc, and i record tv shows, and sometimes a movie that comes on the satelite. usually, the movie is more than an hour and a half and it will not fit onto one dvd+r. how can i make it fit? when i use DVD X Copy Xpress, i can copy a dvd that has a movie longer than that, and its menu. is there anyway i can compress the movie maybe?
Thanks,
Brett

u have to use mpeg2 as the compression method and encode in variable bitrate. This way u can fit more than 2 hours in a dvdr.
What is the capturing format u r using?

the media center records in .dvr-ms, but i can convert that to mpeg, how would i use mpeg2?
afaik .dvr-ms files are simply .mpg files with mpeg-2 video

No... you need to author the DVD. The DVD authoring forum or Doom9's guides (under DVD Backup - DVD/miniDVD there is a DVD authoring guide) would be a good place to start.

Some dvd players will play dvdrs burned in file mode of just mpeg1 and mpeg2 files (my player does for example) however just realize even if your current player does, if you buy another dvd player later on it may not.. making a true authored dvd burned in dvd-video mode compatible with the most players
