Hi,
I have other +Rs that play on my stand alone, but it doesn't recognize a disc being present when I insert freshly burned +R discs. The discs play fine on the computer. I'm using Ridata DVD+Rs and burning them in an Iomega all format Super DVD burner. Is there a setting I should change? Can I get there from Here? Tia.

Yes, you can get There from Here. :)
This is usually a media compatibility issue. Use these links to do some checking:
player/media compatibility (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers)
burner/media compatibility (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdwriters)
Before we get wrapped up in troubleshooting your encoding and burning apps, please check those links. If you've questions after doing so, here's a couple for you....
Have you burned files that play in your PC and your standalone? What encoding and burning software are you using, in other words, describe your procedures? 'G luck!

Thx for the comeback ammck55,
Yes I've burned discs that play in both, but all have been DVD-Rs. This is my first time using DVD+Rs. Software used is DVDShrink 3.1.7.6, Nero 6.3 fronted by IMG TOOL BURN 1.1.0. From the links I learned that my player appears to give different results to different reviewers and different brands of media. There were no problems of my type reported for the burner. Great links, thx, I'm learnin.

Ahhh....there's the source for some of my confusion. If I read your problem correctly, you need to edit the first +R in your intital post to this thread to a -R, so as to effectively mirror your dilemma.
It seems that you have the software end of this down, so catch the brand of media that's been working for you on sale, and stock up! :)
Try checking on firmware updates for your burner, there might be some help out there for you.

ieSpell (http://www.iespell.com) is good for dummies! (And wicked typo's.)

What I meant to say is that DVD+Rs from other sources have played in my standalone but the ones I have burned (+Rs) do not. This is no longer an issue however. After consulting the links you provided, I ran out and purchased a cheap standalone that does play the +Rs I've burned.
