Hi, PROs.

I made an image of my 790MB XivD file with m2cdmaker, and burned with Nero6. WMPlayer9 says the duration of the file on disc is 14+ hours. Why? WMP does this often, but not always.

And sometimes the seek-bar can't be operated.

Also, WMPlayer hogs so much system resources.

Should I change my player?

Regards.

Must be a problem with the splitter/source filter (both wrong duration and no seeking)

If it is a problem with the splitter/source filter (both wrong duration and no seeking), then what can I do to rectify it?

It does not happen with WMP2 (which comes with WMP and is in the same folder), though. WMP2 is version 6.4.07.1112, and behaves more stably and responsibly. Why does M$ still provide this?

Regards.

I think MS still provides mplayer2 because wmplayer sucks so much ;)

I would think that you should switch to Media Player Classic by Gabest, RadLight (see DAvenger's sig), or Zoom Player. I think MPC would be the easiest to use and looks very similar to mplayer2. MPC uses many of it's own internal filters one of which is an avi splitter that is nicer then Microsoft's (these can also be disabled).

you can also get this avisplitter for use in other DirectShow players(along with MPC and almost everything else you might need for video/audio playback) from http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/

Yes, I think it's time to dump WMP.
