I will get my hand on a MT1389EE tomorrow at night:
Philips DVP-720SA (http://www.consumer.philips.com/global/b2c/ce/catalog/product.jhtml;?divId=0&groupId=VIDEO_GR&catId=DVD_CA&subCatId=DVD_PLAYERS_SU&productId=DVP720SA_02) 179,00 € at MediaMarkt in Portugal
Comments at www.videohelp.com (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=4181&Search=Search&#comments) about DVP-720SA
Pioneer DV-575A-S (http://www.pioneer-eur.com/eur/product_detail.jsp?product_id=8533&taxonomy_id=62-84) Not available in Portugal yet.
I'm available for testing.
My Ascomtec 2004 (MT1389DE) will have to be sent to Spain for repair (only reads dvd, recorded or commercial, very randomly).
All the best,
Sharro

You should not say such things :D
If you have the time to download you could try these files:
ftp://zhnujm.dyndns.org/gmc.avi
ftp://zhnujm.dyndns.org/packet.avi
Maybe they work with the EE chip.

I have already confirmed, it was shipped and I will get my hands on it Wednesday early morning.
Test files already on my pc. I'm quite curious about gmc too and subtitle support...
Packed Bitstream still looks like a no go from what I read.
All the best.

Maybe.
BUt the remote control changes things on my TV and Receiver and vica versa.
If i turn the volume down on my receiver it stops the DVD player.
there is a bunch of cross matched problems and its virtually unwatchable unless you throw away ALL your remotes.
I have a Yamaha receiver and an LG tv
