Hi
I'm trying to convert home video vhs tapes so they will play on a stand alone dvd player. I have gotten as far as converting avi to mpg but I can't figure out how to convert the mpg files into vob, ifo and bup files that my dvd stand alone will recognize and play back. I've tried the search button a number of times but so far I havn't found any info that my newbie mind can grab and run with. Can someone suggest a tutorial and/or a program that would help? I want to burn to DVD not VCD or SVCD. tia.

If the video and audio are DVD compliant then an authoring program is all you'll need. If you need to convert the video and/or audio, you should use something like DVD Movie Factory, TMPEGENC, Vegas Video, etc.

Thx for the quick response SP33d,
How can I tell if the video and audio are DVD compliant?

You might try using AVI2DVD, a subset of the DVD2SVCD suite. Doom9 has a step-by-step guide: http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvd2svcd-avi.htm
