View Full Version : Scripting Multiple Movies?

Couldn't find this asked anywhere else...

Suppose I have multiple movies on a DVD that I wish to rip & encode (for example, TV episodes). Is there any procedure that I can use to set up the codecs and then rip them all using the same settings, as opposed to ripping each one individually? If a DVD has 8-10 episodes, it seems absurd to be required to manually do each one.

Any help or re-direction would be appreciated.

It would help solve your problem if you'd list the format conversion you're after, and/or the software you're using. Have you already come up empty on a search for "batch"?

Format doesn't matter, I'm thinking Divx5 just for compatability's sake. The only conversion I've done so far is into XviD/Ogg format, and the process took a really long time for just one plain movie.

A search on batch processing didn't turn up anything. I know VDubMod can process things in batches, but what about other tools?

I don't work with Divx or Xvid, so I can't really be of much help to you. Your title is pretty good, but it might attract more attention from the Divx crew if you retitled it to something like, "Batch Encoding with Divx". Just click on the "Edit" button in the lower right of your first post to this thread if you choose to do so. The weather must be nice world-wide, there hasn't been much activity in Noobs so far this weekend. :)

OK, I couldn't resist running a quick search, and although this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47517&highlight=batch+encoding) doesn't play exactly into your topic, Manono's second post there has a good heads up for you, and a link to a guide. I ran a search specific to the Dvix forum on "batch encoding" and only looked at this thread, but there are several others there to be found. HTH's...

you can save multiple jobs in gordianknot, autoGK - so this would probably be your choice! you would have to rip all episodes seperately in dvddecrypter, then create a d2v project for every one of them and afterwards, just load them them into gordianknot and, do the settings once.

Awesome! Not sure how I missed that when I was searching, but I'd say it's exactly what I'm looking for. I'll play around with a DVD and see if everything works using those steps. Thanks!
