Is there really no way to split an avi(coded Divx with Ogg vorbis) into 2 or more segment?

theres practically no way that you have an avi with ogg vorbis... nandub had such an option i believe (but it was kinda crappy)

so you probably have an ogm or matroska file (perhaps renamed with the avi extension?)... in any case, i think you should be able to split them.

could you describe what you have tried and why it is going wrong?

I have an avi (v.codec divx5 a.codec ogg media) file which is 900MB. I need to split the avi in order to fit onto 2 CD

im very sorry... you want a step-by-step guide how to split a file?
then use search...

if you take 3 minutes to look at virtualdubmod you probably can figure it out yourself. if not then just try something. if that doesnt work, come back and tell us what you tried and what went wrong while doing so.

sorry for being so cynical, but even my sister figured out how to do this on her own. well, i dont know if ogg vorbis is a special case but again, then tell us whats going wrong. nobody is able you to help you this way.

Oh crapit, then ask ur sister to be the helper instead of you. -- JOKE
I had already tried a number of times using virtualdubmod, but after finishing parsing the file after opening, it indicate that the "ogg invalid media stream" is invalid.

and you didnt think that would be an important thing to tell us, right? :p

anyway, i told you it isnt an avi file. avi-files dont need to be parsed in VDubMod. so im guessing its OGM.

if i understand you right VDubMOd doesnt open the file, but spits out the error and then keeps silent? no playable video appears?

also, when its parsing the file, what does it say exactly? (e.g. parsing OGM file)

It say "Parsing Ogg Media File"

Then as said, it is not an AVI.

If VDubMod won't work then you could try Tobias' ogg cutter: http://tobias.everwicked.com/tools.htm or ogm cutter: http://cyrius.bunkus.org/ogmtools.html

But the extension is avi. Anyway, thanks for the help. When I post this problem in this forum and other forum, the forum user who reply told me that the avi is corrupted!

if you change the extension to mp3 it doesnt magically change into an mp3 right ;)
