Hello people.

I need some help. I want to translate the Battle Royale subtitles in French for my friends who don't understand english as well as I do. I extracted the DVD and extracted the subtitles from it using SubRip. I can now begin translation.

But the question is... how do I burn a DVD with the movie and these new translated subtitles? All I've got is a text file with the subtitles and the .VOB movie file. How do I get that on a DVD-R and make it work? I'm totally lost here.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Hi & welcome to the board,

first off, I'd like to point out that translating subs is no easy work :) ... so thumbs up if you do it.

Regarding how to do integrate your newly translated subs, I'd recommend the sticky threads at the top of this forum ... if you don't need to keep the menus etc., the quickest way is to demux audio & video using dvddecrypter or vobedit. Save the chapter information from the original vobs ("tools -> save celltimes") using ifoedit. Take your srt text file and use srt2sup to create a sup file, then use ifoedit or rejig to author a new dvd. Use the ifo colour information from srt2sup to edit the ifo file and incorporate the proper colour information (check the ifo/vob editors forum, in particular the ifoedit faq for detailed info). Use e.g. dvdshrink to reduce the size of your project to dvd-r size. Done!
This is very short, but if you read around a bit, it should be no problem.
