Hey!
My grandma and grandpa have just bought a Canon Ixus 500, and their plan was to go to the nearest photoshop and then get all the pictures transferred to a DVD which they want to watch on their TV via their DVD-recorder.
I find it silly that they pay some shop money for this, when I can do it for free, but the problem is that I dont know how to do it?!
Where can I find any guides or something?
Thanks a lot.

Well there are a couple of ways you can do this...but I don't know of a free way to do it. I have used Roxio Easy Cd Creator to generate photo cd's, which my dvd player can play back.
But I rarely use dvd-r's for this because its a waste. I've rarely had more than 650 megs of photos to show anyone...and you have to reduce the size of each image or your dvd player will choke on them.
Are you sure you need to make a dvd movie of the pictures and not just a simple cd slideshow?

I think a normal CD-R would be fine, because I cant imagine that my family is able to fill out 4,7gb with pictures.

In Nero, create a Video CD compilation and then simply drag-and-drop all the pictures there. There is an option to add menus with picture titles and thumbnails if desired. You got yourself a slideshow on CD-R. VCD can be played on the majority of DVD players.

I want to do the same thing, but I need to put the pics on DVD. My moms DVD player will not play the VCDs. So how do I go about that?

How to make a DVD Slideshow/PhotoDVD (http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?howtoselect=3;52#3;52)
Including slideshow in a DVD (http://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/t227211.html)
Also, several Ulead (http://www.ulead.com/) products such as CD & DVD PictureShow (http://www.ulead.com/dps/features.htm) have this functionality.
