Blah...I can't burn at 4x anymore. I always get power calibration errors. I can't believe its my Ritek G04's. I'm still working on the 100pack spindle..and the first 45 or so were perfectly fine...it seems unlikely that all of a sudden in the middle of the spindle they all went bad.
I can burn them at 2x though...but that really sucks..especially when I hear about 8x burning.

I'm debating if I should get a pioneer 107D or something...but maybe I should wait for the DL versions to come out?

My drive also had problems with 4x Leaddata disks. I could only use them at 2x. I gave that leaddata spindle to a friend who had a Pioneer 106 and he burned them just fine at 4x. Makes me wonder about my NEC drive.

Ok I picked up a Sony DVD-R 4X disk, and it burns fine.
so guess my drive can't handle Ritek's anymore...
I'm not sure what to believe now. I found some threads talking about Ritek quality not being what it once was..but they are talking about other brands that use Ritek media...Ridata Riteks are supposed to be fine.

well I don't think you should get another burner (i have nd-1300a too :D). those riteks are crap.
I ordered spindle of 50 ritek "grade a media", unopened box, and the discs had greasy fingerprints in them, hair, some of the discs were faulty (and I mean faulty by manufacture). i'll stick to the sony and maxell media :)

I wouldn't say Riteks are bad at all, the G03s are still my favourite budget media (and have come down to like 50 cents per jewelcased disc).

Rather stay away from spindled discs - I had damaged discs even in a datalife plus spindle. Oh, and if somebody is so desparate to claim their media is "a-grade", then perhaps it's not :D.

They discontinued the G03's though :(

Plus. I can't even burn them properly. They're supposed to be 1x disks, but my nec 1300A is not capable of 1x burning.
