There would have to be some type of layer break detection in terms of burning a video file thats > 4.3 gig. Will future versions have this option? This will create a completely free way of backing up DVDs. Or would DVD Shrink have to create a layer break, and then Decrypter would have to read it?

Can anyone shed some light on this issue? I know Nero would give support, but I want to see if a free solution is possible.

from the changelog of DVD Decrypter 3.2.0.0:
Added: 'Untested' support for Double Layer +R media burning

Ah, silly me, I forgot about that changelog entry.

But wouldn't that require a detection of a layer break? Or will it create one from scratch? Maybe Lightning UK will know.

I've never seen an exact method of detecting the LBA address of a layer break so I've just done it how it should be done according to the DVD+R Double Layer specs.
