My friend just got a Lite-On SOHW-812S DVD±RW burner. Two out of the four image burning attempts he tried resulted in the DVD-R disc coming out empty. No, he did not use the "Test Burn" option. What could possibly be wrong?
Edit: Further more, it seems that there's problems with the discs that come out alright. Trying them in his DVD player, they don't get to the DVD menu automatically on startup, nor show the warnings and such. Only by pressing Play, then Menu, can he access the menu. However he burned one movie on a DVD+R (the others were on DVD-R), and this one works flawlessly and gets to the menu on startup.
He also tried his DVD-R burns in his computer and they're not getting to the menu either... could it be a bad disc batch? Could it be that DVD+R is the way to go for backing up movies?
Thanks.
