any chance to get more players in there? :)
vlc player, the core media player, mplayer2, crystal player, divx player for example?
anyway i vary according to the mood, but it's mainly bs player(the new one rocks) and mplayer 2, with variations to core and mpc at times :) and vlc when my codec arrangements go on strike for whatever reason known to bill gates only, or if my cpu is maxed....
My system seems to reject all those in turn like various skin grafts(save mplayer2 which seems to be the only successful thing that MS ever made), so I have to change sometimes ... but right now it's bs player for everything :)
Also we'd need to be able to tick several options, I doubt many use one player only
EDIT: I'll go vote in soulhunter's poll ;) TY for the link...lol
2ND EDIT: dang, the poll is closed :D

:D Why don't you use build #13 with VobSub subtitles support (no need for VSFilter) ? ;)

I like ZoomPlayer because of the massive number of options & custom filter control.

None of the above, VLC makes me happy.

MPC.
I switched to that when MS started to let their player look like a piece of cheap sci-fi equipment.
Now that Iīm used to MPC, I appreciate it even more for the many features it has. For example the option to chose another video renderer than system default, which seems to be buggy on my system.

MPC
But i really think it needs an update, but it hasn't been updated for months now. Still the best player around. I have to admit I did not try the new Zoom Player or Radlight, maybe those are very good also. I also didn't try Real player or WMP 9, but those previous releases are so bad, I don't even think about trying them.

Crystal Player Pro for Video
MPC for SWF

Finally I exclusively use Media Player Classic for every type of video, including DVD.
I used to have BSPlayer as a fallback option, but don't like their new system of sending the download link via email. So I dumped BSPlayer.

Hello, :)
very interesting "Soul" :p
But I don't see VLC ( Soul and Aliumalik)
I prefer VLC v0.72

Nothing comes even close to BS play features I need, like changing resolutions for fullscreen, do not resizing the video on fullscreen when enabled and such... :D
For DVDs I use DVD subber, tough. In both cases, AC3 filter 1.0 RC5 deliver me grat 5.1 audio. Just better support for mpeg2 HDTV (TS files) in the FFD show and Im entierly satisfacted :D

CrystalPlayer Pro :)

Yeah, Crystal is waaaaay better than BSPlayer.

I don't believe this ;)
It took BSplayer many times and revisons to get where it is. I mean all the necessary features like seeking, AC3 crect audio, subtitles settings, AAliasing and positing win window/on fullscreen...
...come on, you hardly can think that anything else can come even close :D

I recently installed wmp 9 into my 98SE system, mainly so my
8 year old son could stream yugioh, digimon and similar over the web.
Also upgraded to IE6 sp1 and all fixes.
In general the system seems just as stable if not more so that it
was before. The problem I have with wmp 9, that so far I've not been
able to resolve, is a 5 to 10 second delay between the time avi
and mpg files are opened until it starts to play.
The same files play without a delay in bsplayer and mplayer 6.4
I haven't tried zoom or the others.

Lots of those features are GUI related and not really important.
I cannot think of any useless option in MPC and all those integrated decoders are very nice and internal subtitle support is a must to me.
Zoom Player is a good player ofcourse but to me it's just another direct show player, nothing really special.

IMHO, ZoomPlayer is the video equivalent to Winamp...
While BS Player is the video equivalent to foobar2000 !!!
And MPC is something between the booth previous ones... :D

IMHO, BSPlayer can't compete with modern media players. It was great three years ago but it has nothing special to offer nowadays. (and yes, I know what I am talking about)
I can say this without being ashamed ... MPC & ZoomPlayer will have to go through hard-times with the new RL nearing final ;) Those who tried it will surely give me a silent nod.

concerning your link:
Cpu load depends on used decoder filters...and VMR9 isn't really very new and has been supported by some other players for some months now...;)

Well, one of the main advantages of MPC is itīs similarity to the classic WMP.
Itīs crude, straight-forward design - no fance stuff, just a window containing video.
Besides, itīs got all [b]I[/i] ever needed (till yet). I donīt know what else one could ask of a media player.

What's there to support? It's just a video renderer like any other ;)
About the CPU usage, yes but the architecture matters too. Before you ask about the memory usage ;) it's considerably lower than any other media player.
Many RL users are now removing VSFilter because the new version supports VobSub subtitles natively = some cpu % and a lot of memory saved. :D

On Windows I use BSPlayer. I've tried Crystal Player, but it really leaves much to be desired. The menus in particular are poorly laid out, and the options badly organized.
In Linux, I use xine. I've tried mplayer and vlc, but xine just works better for me.

the funny things is MPC doesnt even require an installation :)
and the skin that comes standard with RadLight player is...
DAvenger
28th June 2004, 12:43
Is anything wrong with the skin?
Anyway, you don't need to worry as I am finalizing the "Oldskool" user interface module ;)
Also, we will be adding "no-install/one-file-only" feature really soon. Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Yeah, CrystalPlayerPro is better than BSPlayer [the only two players this thread seems to endorse], but isn't it payware, while BSPlayer is free?
Correct me if I am wrong.

It's an alternative user interface module I am working on (that means you simply copy a DLL to the /modules dir, add it to your moduleset and you get a completely different look)
You can try a design-only draft version here : http://www.radlight.net/forum/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=5430
Glad that you like the player

Yes the player is nice but you have to make the interface more cohesive separate panels bug me and I presume a lot of people. And while I was searching around for reviews of your player some time ago I found out that people dislike it mainly because of the Spyware/Advertisment thing. I think you should offer a free and a paid bersion just to gain poularity.
Thanks

I hope the Oldskool MOD will make it for the first BETA (scheduled for this weekend). As for the adware, this version is freeware and it's going to stay free of adware entirely. That's some good news I guess ;)
