I recently did a fresh OS install and after trying both Nero Vision and Roxio and DVD Workshop, I get crashes in each when using divx/xvid files. AVI and mpegs seem to work as well as captured files from my tv card (mpg).
I've installed the Mega Codec pack and still no joy.
Actually, sometimes I get some type of error message which does not stay on the screen long enough to read.
Anyone have problems like this?
Thanks

Mega Codec pack ?
do you mean the gknot codec pack ?
or a rogue release containing codec, compiled by I don't know who, and maybe the cause of your problem?
Anyway, if you are getting crash in particular application,
it might be those applications fault...
AFIK, if you encoded with non certified/standard profile,
and if nero tries to alter in some way or some other, it might be normal that it crashes... Now I don't use nero or any of the application you named, so I cannot really help...
Try re-installing the last version of xvid, after cleaning correctly all of your codec (mess?) and see if it solves the problem.

The Mega codec pack, is the Ace pack, that OS destroyer...if I were you,
I'd remove the whole mess and reinstall codecs very sparingly , as you need them..anyway, you crashed before installing it.
I remember having a pile of troubles with nero and roxio together on my system (2K), a long time ago, I don't know if they fixed it, but my last recollection is that they clash together. You could try with only one installed (If I were you, I'd keep nero, but that's me)As well the latest nero isn't always the best for everyone, so you may try reverting to an older trusted version if all else fails :)

I plan on removing all traces of the mega pack tonite and trying the gknot pac.
As far as Nero and Roxio, they had been working fine for many months. I beta tested Roxio's EMC7 and really, really like it for it's package. It is a brand new engine and almost all the other testers had Nero installed as well so I don't think that's the prob....more likely the codec pac.
I think on another system I have the Kazaa codec pac installed with these two progs and have had no problems with it either.
Thanks for the info.
