Looks like they are trying to skim the cream off the market. They haven't even really started volume production of DL media yet, so I've got my fingers crossed that they will be cheaper ($5-7)by the end of the summer. Patience ...

They won't. Verbatim says that the production process is b0rked (50% of the discs come out as crap) and that they need months to fix it...

Wow, sounds to me like they released the burners way before they perfected the disc technology. On another thread, I asked whether they plan to released double-sided DVD+R DL discs, but if the failure rate of single sided blanks are this bad, double-sided blanks may only be a pipe dream.

The quality of the discs is actually nothing to complain about. They have 50% crap rate because they don't sell the broken ones ;)

Notice that there is only 1 DL disc in the package. It seems like a pretty stupid package to me.

That description is pretty good, but even so the guy above failed to read it. On the shelf that bundle might be very misleading.

yup, i just went there today to pick up a dl drive and that 10 pack and considering i was gonna actually buy it, i took a closer look. my response was "oh my god, gimme a break" why the hell would i spend $30 for 8 dvd+r's 1 rw and 1 measly dual layer disc when i can get a 50 pack of verbatim +r's for $40?
