A *.mpg file I recently got has been causing WMP to crash whenever I try and open it. The file is a xvid file that was converted to mpeg in order to be used in a svcd I believe. If I opent he file using PowerDVD it plays fine, only WMP crashes. I tried opening the file on my roommates computer with WMP and he got a playback error, but it didn't cause his whole WMP to crash like on mine. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
*edit* I just downloaded Windows Media Player Classic and the file plays fine in that too, so it appears to be a WMP9 problem. *edit*

I tried some more players, and it seems like some crash and some don't. Creative MediaSource crashes, Zoom Player crahses, but Windows Media Player Classic doesn't, and neither does PowerDVD. I've also noticed that it keeps mentioning the same file in the error report, pl2dll.dll. Anyone have any ideas?

Major update... After searching around I've figured out that the pl2dll.dll file is part of PowerDVD. I uninstalled PowerDVD to see what would happen, and WMP doesn't crash anymore. It still can't play the file, but it doesn't crash. Anyone have any idea why this would be?

Ok, another update... If I install PowerDVD (4.0) but don't install the latest patch, then it works. It's only if I install the latest 4.0 patch that it starts crashing.
