I found this scenarist error FAQ on the net and translated it using Babel. You may have seen it before but I have found it helpful.
Thanks to the doom9 user Alsair http://www.arlsair.de.vu for this great FAQ. I noticed some were not filled in. Maybe someone could fill in the non answered ones?

This is an accumulation of warnings and error messages, which Scenarist spends, which is absolutely incomprehensible however usually for the layman. Suitably there is therefore still the error cause and the solution.

Who knows still further error messages and their solution, this can me gladly (if possible with a left to a Thread o.ae.) to send on arlsair@gleitz.info.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Warning quadrant or sigma Design MPEG decoder is emergency present or the more driver is emergency in valley LED.
Warning hardware decoding OF video May emergency work

Error cause
The first message states that none of the two Dekoder are installed for MPEG.
The moreover the computer hardware MPEG Dekoder map does not enthaet. Therefore the real time preview does not function, since one assumed with the development with Scenarist as Authoring program for professionals the computer possesses such a thing.

Solution
One can ignore these messages confidently.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Warning NUMBER OF SequenceEndCode is 0.

Error cause
The SequenceEndCode was not set when coding.

Solution
One adjusts the Enkoder in such a way that that sets the SequenceEndCode.
However this is often not at all intended, since the final code leads with some DVD Playern to the fact that they stop before a few seconds to play. One can also ignore the warning therefore.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Warning Sub Picture (stream 1 in TRACK "VTS_05_PGC_02") is across scene boundary RK 00:00:00;10

Error cause
This meant that the sub-title in the place over 2 scenes goes.

Solution
One can usually ignore this warning. Only with DVDs with "Button over video" this may not occur.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Error Subpicture Decoding Stream NUMBER for type character box OF Stream 0 is 1 in "PGC: (Title: VTS: ) ". It should less than 0.

Error cause
???

Solution
Go into Scenarist into the Scenario editor.
There clicks you then the appropriate Title symbol on (it is VTS 1 Title 2 here) and insures themselves that the option Subpicture Available is located in the characteristic window down in the center on custom.
Then you click the appropriate PGC symbol (here PGC 2) and double-click down in to characteristics on the window on the yellow Subpicture of attributes files. Then again on Subpicture of attributes files appeared and now see one a list to the sub-titles. Here one should adjust now something else than 0 for Wide and type character box.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Info. Creating DVD files
Error Scene duration shall more than 0,4 second.

Error cause
This error usually ensteht with PGCs, which are very short (usually only 10-15 Frames long). It concerns Slideshows. Since this Slideshows exists however only in each case few i-Frames, also only these by DVD2AVI are decoded. Thus it comes that also the resulting video consists only of few i-Frames. A video must be long with Scenarist however at least 0,4 seconds. Therefore the error message comes.

Solution
The Slideshow consists of individual fixed images, which have usually own VobIDs. In rare cases in addition, only CellIDs. And exactly the same one must copy the PGCs also in Scenarist:
As the first one must demuxen the appropriate VTS by VobID.
This I became in a separate work listing with DoItFast4U! make. Deactivate simply all other VTSes and with this VTS the option Demux by VobID activate.
We use the original VobIDs without new coding, since one does not save eh a storage location.
Now in Scenarist one imports the data, by pulling it simply by Drag&Drop in the DATA editor. Which VobIDs one must import, one can take IfoEdit. All videospuren should be recognized as coded fixed images. Import also existing clay-pure in such a way.
Then one into the TRACK editor goes. There one draws DATA from down right from the window the new data into the TRACK window and provides thereby the TRACKS. If one is asked for the type, selects one Slide Show .
Now one doubleclicks on the newly created TRACKS and selects in quietlythe Stream the fixed image. In the characteristic window down in the center one can adapt under Duration the running time according to that to original IFO (see IfoEdit).
Now one can add still the clay-pure, if there which are. Simply from the window the appropriate clay-purely in the TRACK window pull in DATA.
Over Tools - > import Subtitle... one can import sub-titles.
Now one in the Scenario editor knows the data (everything which below the PGC to mark) the PGCs, which are incorrect according to error message, deletes and then the new to provide.
In addition one draws from the TRACKwindow from down on the right of the new TRACKS on the appropriate PGCs. which where belongs, infers one IfoEdit.
Now one can again try a compiling.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Error The number(0.0) OF frame in A VOBU is less than 10,00 (around 00:01:37;19).
Warning Exiting is canceled because "ExitVobuSizeError" is 0 into the file Scenarist.ini.
Error CAN emergency READ A GOP RK 00:01:38;06 (try ton READ = 80544 B; READ done = 18680 B).

Error cause
A scene is shorter than the minimum length of 0.4 seconds.
There are there several possibilities, how it can come to it:
There are two scenes, which lie very close together. Since a scene can begin in each case with a i-Frame and Scenarist assigns the scenes to the next i-Frame, it can come that both scenes are assigned to the same i-Frame. This is however not permitted.
It can also be that a scene lies after the end of the film. If now the film with a i-Frame ends (possibly because the film was coded too briefly).
And the error can occur with Slideshows and fixed images.
Solution
And here the solutions in the order of the causes sorts:
The problem can be repaired, by during coding the video with the scene change sets a i-Frame.
The current versions of BatchCCE (starting from v0.9.1.4) and ScenAid (starting from 0.9.0.6) pick the cello formations out and set when coding for each Cell a i-Frame. Thus each scene has its own i-Frame.
Once the film should already have the correct length. This is reached by DVD2AVIdg/Mpeg2Dec3dg (becomes from DoItFast4U! since v1.41 beta supports).
And then the problem is reached again by importing the cello formations in BatchCCE.
See in addition the above error message.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Error Write VOB failed. Please check by mission or disk space.
Error DVD files could emergency created

Error cause
Too little storage location.

Solution
Scenarist needs 4.37 GB (or less, if the DVD is not full) with the Komplieren once to the multiplex one and then again 4.37 GB for the actual DVD data.
Make free simply somewhat more place.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Error Can't encode. The bit compressed for one LINE is more than 1440. [ Subpicture more encoder ]
Error CAN emergency open subpicture file (D:\DoItFast4U!\Scenarist\Cache\Encoded Files\VTS_03_VSUB_P1A1-01 -- Deut_32.sp)

Error cause

Solution
Here there are several solutions:
One deletes simply the appropriate sub-titles. In addition one opens the appropriate sst file and deletes the appropriate sub-title.
Sometimes it is enough to remove some picture parts from the appropriate sub-title. One can make that e.g. with Microsoft Paint.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
When importing the warning comes:
Warning (file name) is emergency supported file format. Imported as more placeholder.

When compiling then the error message comes:
Info. Creating DVD files
Error The TRACK has place get-getting that.

Error cause
Scenarist is to import a file in a format, with which it does not know to begin anything. For such data by Scenarist substitute symbols are provided, with which one can provide first times the TRACKS and the Scenario. When compiling those bring naturally nothing and produce therefore the error.

Solution
One goes in the DATA editor and holds after the substitute symbols look out. They are easily recognizable from the linkage arrow. These clicks one on and can then in the characteristic window down in the center read off, which file is expected.
Now one ensures for the fact that the file is present. In addition it can be enough e.g. to rename a m2v file in mpv or one did not code simply the file yet.
Then one goes again in the DATA editor and clicks with the right mouse button on the substitute symbols. In the selection menu one selects now Place Holder - > DATA and the file one imports and one merges correctly into the TRACKS and into the Scenario.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Scenarist falls without error message, if one script on "new one from". clicks.

Error cause
Scenarist does not get along with the new Nvidia IDE drivers under WinXP (perhaps also different operating systems???).

Solution
One must change the IDE driver manually.
One goes into the equipment manager. (start - > attitudes - > system control - > system - > hardware - > equipment managers). There one deinstalliert under IDE ATA/ATAPI CONTROLLER the Nvidia driver. To install requested with the next start one a new driver. In the Wizard one selects the second option software of a list... . Also in the next dialogue one selects the second option does not select... . Now one selects the standard Zweikanal PCI IDE CONTROLLER.

Error cause
This error arises, if two sub-titles are to be indicated at the same time.

Solution
A solution would be to be removed - although a bad - one sub-title-purely.
The other possibility is to provide the sst file, which imports the sub-titles in Scenarist, with SubRip. There one can adjust that between the individual sub-titles a minimum distance exists.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Error CAN emergency ADD DATA outside the valid video duration.

Error cause
It is tried to platzieren data outside of the running time of the videospur. Since one does not go however the fact that one sees only the Vidospur and then later e.g. the clay/tone comes spends Scenarist the error message.

Solution
Place simply the data somewhat further left, so that they are underneath the videospur

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Error This video has unknown picture type. File offset = 1003

Error cause
Scenarist accepts only certain formats as source data. Gemultiplexte data such as VOB files do not belong to.

Solution
Change simply the data in such a way that they are accepted. E.G. and then the individual Streams import VOB files demultiplexen.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Error total bit rate is too HIGH. Please reduce the stream bit rate or the NUMBERS OF stream.

Error cause
The DVD specifications prescribe that a total bit rate may not be exceeded by 10,08 Mbps, because otherwise the Buffer of the DVD Player cannot seize the data sets. In addition the bit rates that count video -, clay/tone and sub-title-pure.
Here apparent the combined total bit rate is too high.

Solution
One can code the video with a smaller maximum bit rate or omit simply a few traces.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Error The NUMBER OF program <159> exceeds the max NUMBERS <99>, PGC

Error cause
According to DVD specifications a VTS may have only maximally 99 chapters.

Solution
One must reduce the number of chapters to maximally 99.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Error check file system error returned
Error Disc image could emergency created

Error cause
If Scenarist is to provide an image, then one needs NTFS as file system, since FAT32 can write only 4GB large files.

Solution
Either the file system change or the image e.g. with ImgTool Classic provide. This program can divide the image into 1GB large parts.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Error The NUMBER OF of frames OF audio 3 is more shorter than video's "D:\DoItFast4U!\VTS01\VTS__01_V001-80-448K-[0ms]-ch6.AC3"
Error Please use longer audio file for seamless vob connnection

Error cause
This error arises only with MultiAngles. Clay-purely is shorter than the video, which with MultiAngles may not be.

Solution
One must extend clay-purely by the number mentioned of Frames. One makes this at the best one with Jsoto`s DelayCut.

With it one loads clay-purely under inputs the file mentioned. Under Delay one deactivates the Haeckchen, so that one under end (MSEC) to something indicate can. There one indicates now as negative number, around how much milliseconds is to become clay-purely longer. A Frame corresponds somewhat to 32ms. around above clay-purely to korrieren would have one input file info. sees one the number of Frames thus there with Num OF of frames. The changed number finds one target file info..
Finally one clicks on Process.

Now one must replace the old clay-purely by the new.
In addition one does not designate the new clay-purely over file names nearly same in something with a shorter name, since Scenarist between two files with are enough, to differentiate can. Then one pulls the new clay-purely from the file manager in Scenarist in to DATA editorwindow. In the TRACK editor one doubleclicks on the appropriate TRACKS and draws from that DATAwindows down on the right of the new clay-purely on the old and replaces her in such a way with it.
Finished, it can continue.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message

Error cause

Solution
See above error.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Error Aspect Ratio <16:9> in this PGC is from the one different <4:3> in Title: VTS:

Error cause
???

Solution
If one works ReAuthorist, one can under Settings with Create additional scripts for each VTS for each VTS provide there let individual script.
Now one imports only the individual Skripte in Scenarist and compiles her successively. Occasionally one designates in the newly created ifo, bup and vob files the VTS number again correctly over (thus which before VTS_06 was, should now again VTS_06 be).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Error Track(VTS_03_PGC_04) Sub Picture stream 1 does't have Sub Picture DATA.

Error cause
A possible error cause would be, if the PGC is shorter than the value, which one with DoItFast4U! into the OTHER option under Don`t Vobsub PGCs less than X min adjusted. Then DoItFast4U demultiplext! the sub-titles and they are not then also in Scenarist available.

Solution

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error message
Error The Subpicture Attribute(Language and so on) For Wide in PGC:Stream<2>:Title is from The Reference PGC different

Error cause
???

Solution
Here there are two possibilities for this error:
The indicated PGC has fewer sub-title-pure than the preceding PGCs.
Here one can copy simply a sub-title. In addition one into the TRACK editor goes and doubleclicks on the appropriate TRACKS. There one right-clicks on a sub-title (at the best one an empty dummy-purely) and selects CoPy . Now one clicks above in the symbol border on the lila button beside the loudspeaker symbol, in order to provide a new sub-title-purely. There one right-clicks again and selects for inserting paste .
In the Scenario the sub-title characteristics are not correctly adjusted.
In addition one in the Scenario editor clicks on the indicated PGC. Then in characteristics the window down in the center one scrollt down up to the Subpicture of attributes. With one doubleclick on it sees one the sub-title-pure. With one doubleclick on the traces can one the allocation of the traces change. If the allocation is not correct, all are sub-title-purely adjusted to first. One must correct this then. Thus the second trace should show also to the second trace, etc.. That should look then in such a way, as with the preceding PGCs.

Sounds good. If anyone wants to update the missing part or correct translation errors they are perfectly welcome to do so. It would be nice to get a massive scenarist error FAQ going. If anyone has any other errors and solutions they could post them also.

Error cause
Video stream is not encoded with "Close GOP" enabled. I account this error always when I havn't checked "Output bitstream for edit(Closed GOP)" in TMPEG. Uncheck "Close GOP" may not always lead to such error but most of the time.

Solution
Reencode this video with that option checked.

The last sentence I would rephrase as:
It is always enough to MOVE some picture parts within the appropriate subtitle (ex: split one line of text into 2 lines, or if there are 2 lines already just make them the same length so there wil be less than 1440 bits per line). One can make that e.g. with Microsoft Paint.

Always works unlike the jpeg conversion - when subpic stream is on you may get the background subpic color (ex: black)
to blank your movie during the subpic display time.

Here's a new one that hit me just tonight while doing a routine encode that I've done hundreds of times before:

"All input files must be in same type."

This is from the AC3 Encoder tool, while attempting to encode 5 48KHz 16-bit mono files into a 5 channel AC3 file, a very typical conversion for us.

I'm going bonkers checking every input file and the error just persists, even though they are all the same size in bytes and the same format. Scenarist has lost its mind.

I found that by restarting Scenarist and repeating the loading of source files, the problem cleared.
