Hi.
I used to get all this but unfortunately I am once again confused with all these new releases of the big3 programs. :D

In Doitfast4u I do not use the invert field order in file names option. When I up in batchccews I am not to sure which options to use. I want to keep interlaced video interlaced I have never liked deinterlacing.

I use cce 2.67.00.23 and all the latest versions of all the software used in the big3 process.

I am in Pal Land.
This is my understanding.

If I have progressive video which is always the case for PAl main movies do I use the following options...

- Uncheck alternate
- Check progressive
- Uncheck Top Field First (This is the one I'm not too sure on, I think I remember someone telling me this)

If I have an Interlaced video (always the case in Pal extras) I use the tmpgenc method and find out in which field order option it plays correctly (Top field First or Bottom field first) If I have smooth playback when tff is selected in tmpgenc does this mean I check tff in batchccews? I also heard I am meant to check alternate which I always do and leave progressive unchecked.

Here is the tmggenc method I use:

Selecting the correct field order:
Fire up tmpgenc then do this.
Press the "Settings" button and go to the "Advanced" tab. Under the "Field
order" setting, pick "Top field first (field A)". Highlight the
"DeInterlace" option in the list and double click it to open the DeInterlace
dialog. Select the "Even-Odd field (field)" Method. Left-Click on the video
area and then using the keyboard arrows move to the right to frame-advance
the video. If the motion is smooth, then the field order is correct, if it's
all jumpy then exit the DeInterlace dialog, switch the Field order to
"Bottom field first (field B)", re-enter the DeInterlace dialog and check
that now the movement is smooth. When the correct field order is selected,
make sure that the DeInterlace option is checked OFF! We only use it to
check the field order, it must not be enabled for the final encoding.

If someone could clear this up for me for the use of cce 2.67.00.23
it would be great as I sometimes have final DVDs with Jerky playback on the extras which really sucks :(

Thanks a lot

With your setup you check top field first in the latest batchcce if tmpgenc says it's interlaced tff. For progressive material it doesn't matter if ou check TFF or not.

Invert field order is not necessary anymore.

Cheers so I check TFF in batchccews if there is smooth playback using TFF in tmpgenc and I uncheck TFF if there is smooth playback using BFF in Tmpgenc?

Someone told me that I lose the top line of the video if I check TFF on progressive content. Is this correct?

Thanks Influenza! :D
