applying ac3 tags?

i was wondering if it was possible to add info like mp3 tags to ac3 files. i want to add things liek artist,song, encoded by, that sort of thing. im converting cd rips to 5.1 ac3 files and the only thing id like to be able to do is give them tags that could be read by players. is there any chance i can do this?

i think ac3 wasn't made to be used as single files, it's to be used with video

you could mux it into an mka file (matroska audio)
