View Full Version : Suggestion : Display runtime of movie in autoGK

I think this would help a lot of people as it would help them decide to make a 1 CD / 2 CD / 3 CD rip depending on the runtime. I know you can check the runtime on the back of the DVD Cover, but heck some people like me are lazy enough not to check. I have been waiting a while for this feature to be implemented, but no luck yet.
What do you guys think?

Hi-
I don't think much of the idea. You can get the movie's length from DVD Decrypter. And there's not much correlation between the movie's length and the number of CDs needed anyway. That is to say, knowing the movie length does not really indicate the number of CDs needed, as different movies compress differently.

Hi
Not only you have to consider the movie length but also the complexity, as manono says, and also the format (a 2.35:1 movie has less pixels than a 16:9 one).
I kinda leave AutoGK decide for me: My (completely personal and arbitrary) rule is to stay over 512 horizontal pixels. When I see that the "choosen resolution" in the log window is lower than 512, I abort the encode and go for one more CD.

I was thinking about doing this automatically actually.
(not complete autosize, but just add one more CD without changing any other options)
@shrekkie
Its not poosible to display length as video files are not processed on dire selection and DVDDecrypter doesn't give info about ripped source.
