I was just wondering whether an option to select features to remove from the backup will be added to DVD-RB at some stage?
No I don't believe so but you can do 1/2 extra and steel from extra's to get extra space. Anyway if you remove extra's it's not a true 1:1 backup anymore, I'ved done some huge disc's (7.5+ gigs) and got results that look like orginal so I can hardly see why you would want to do this.
Just remove those huge DTS and 6 channel audio tracks and just leave regular 2 channel audio to save space.

I've never tryed, but i think we should use dvd shrink to rip a dvd (withouth compression of course). Choose the titles what you need, and grab it. Then use this as a source.

Yeah, or you could always use DVD-Remake... Warn you though, it's not free but you can take off anything on the DVD and replace it buy a 0.01 MB video stream so it's useful to take off an extra you don't want

Just a note: DvdReMake will also change navigation automatically ("autobypass" feature) so that even these blank replacements never get played!

Oh, didnt know that about Remake! Does that mean if you blank the trailer VTS on Disney discs, it will skip it faster than with titlesetblanker?

I'm not sure how titlesetblanker, but I would assume "Yes". And the more clips were played originaly in the title the more apparent "...skip faster..." will be.
