View Full Version : Replacing Audio in VOBs

I hope i'm not breaking rule nr.8 (no cross posting)

I'm looking for a way to replace audio-streams in VOBs during DVD backup/shrinking. My goal is to reencode the 5.1ch AC3 tracks to 2ch MP2 tracks to gain some space for the video-streams of the DVD.
i asked jdobbs in this thread (AC3 -> MP2 (5.1ch -> 2ch) during Backup (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75513)) to include BeSweet in DVD-Rebuilder, so this can be done in a simple point&click manner. (automatic demuxing of the audio, reencoding with BeSweet and muxing with the newly encoded/transcoded video from DVD-Rebuilder)
i also asked for a general (standalone) way to exchange audio-streams inside VOBs in the IFO/VOB Editors forum (Exchanging Audio-Stream in VOB (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75592)), so this can be done before using DVD-RB or any other DVD backup tool.
But in both cases there hasn't happened much.
i'm now hoping to find some people in the audio encoding forum that are interested too in such a functionality. Maybe there's a way to do this with little effort and with existing tools. Or maybe there's someone skilled & willing to write the needed tool for this.

If any of the 'audio encoding' moderators thinks that rule nr.8 is broken, feel free to close this thread. it's just that people should be able to read this post and maybe participate in one of the 2 mentioned threads above.

Greetings,
Malcolm
