Iam currently using the big three to rip/encode/author my movies. I keep having the same problem over and over again. I put the movie back together and I use ifoedit. I then image the file up and load it in damian tools. I view the movie in WMP9 and it plays great. Quality and sound are perfect. The only problem is the damn chapters. There all wrong. For an example, I riped Neon Genesis Evangelion : End of Evangelion last night. the entire flick is 1:30 play time. There are 12 chapters in total. Chapter 8 says it's at the 1 hour mark. Chapter 9 seems to go back in time to 47:50 but the movie continues, only the time jumps back. Chapter 10,11 and 12 are dead. In the bottem left of WMP9 it says FINISHED as in the flick has finished. It just hangs there with a black screen doesn't even go back to the main menu. This has happened to ever flick i have riped. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

it almost sounds as if you are not ifoupdateing. and are you saying you put the movie together (compile) with ifoedit and not scenarist?

what are the steps you follow while making the backup (please write them out and dont say 'like the guide says') thank you

wow... i could have swore I posted a message here.... wierd

anyway.. could be something as simple as WM9 too.. have you tried something like PowerDVD or WinDVD to play back?

I've never seen something jump back in time like that except for a seamless branching movie that wasn't quite done correctly

I think i figured it out, ive been using ifoedit and its been messing up, i tried using ifoupdate and it worked. Chapters play fine now. Why would ifoedit have been messing up the chapters and dont ifoedit and ifoupdate do the same thing ?

No.... IFOUpdate copies key tables from the newly authored .ifo file over to the original IFO file (ie, cell locations, sectors, etc)

IFOEdit is purely an ifo editor..

I'm assuming all you did was the "Get VTS Sectors" option in ifoedit?

Yup "Get VTS Sectors" was all i was doing.
