It isn't extremely complicated but the coding involved is considerably more work than I originally anticipated. I'd made a couple of assumptions during my initial design that turned out not to be a good idea for ILVU. This will probably be the last thing I implement and test before taking the software out of beta. Sorry.

I know this is a stupid question, but do have any idea of how long you'll keep DVD-RB in beta... in my mind (and I know this was a really bad assuption) I didn't think DVD-RB would come out of beta :). I don't mean that I didn't think you'd ever get finished, more that you'd continue to expand indefinately :D

As for the continued expansion -- yes I will keep on adding functionality until it runs out of things to do. The only difference might be the frequency of the updates... at some point people get tired of downloading update-after-update.

There's no way we're going to get tired. We just love this piece of art.

Hi Ya
are you kidding ! My biggest internet kick is logging on to Doom 9 , straight into the forums , straight into the rebuilder forum and looking for a new version......i hope this program never stops getting updates every week.....so much fun to read the changelog , and then sit back and read all the traffic regards the new version as it rolls in....
Well , o.k for me i guess i'm not the one debugging it and doing all the hardwork but then i'm not as smart as Mr Jdobbs so very obvisualy is .....
I dont post much so while i'm here , here's a suggestion : how about a lets hear it for dobbs thread....so we can all let him know how much we *LOVE* DVD REBUILDER.
Regards

jdobbs, just a reminder, there are few more thing before final release, if you pleaseeeee:
- Closed Caption for us poor NTSC;
- Updated IFOs for removed audio and subs;
- Maybe using newer version of MPEG decoder?
Of course, I am not trying to pace your work, do as you feel and we could not wait for Official release - hope it wouldn't be too expensive.

Seamless branching is THE killer feature of any CCE using DVD transcoders.. features like half D1 or OPV are nothing compared to it (that is of course my honest opinion). Writing software myself, I found that it's usually better not to move a tough rock ahead of you, but crunch it down at some early point.. the larger your project get the harder it gets to change something in the core. I know how I felt when I had to change my communication protocol 3 months into my masters thesis. But then again I've had my freedom there so you should have your freedom with your own software...

It's not going to be that bad... just a little later than I'd hoped. Most of the problems with previous methods were there because you had to prepare it for a reauthoring package. Since I do the reauthoring myself -- that's not a worry.

Glad to hear that jdobbs :) . A hard task is better than an next to impossible task. I only wish I knew how to code so that I could help :( . I can't wait for seamless branching and muti-angle support to be included. When that day comes it'll basically nulify any need to upgrade to a dual layer DVD writer. Just a quick question also, does DVD-RB re-encode the DVD menu's as well?

No it doesn't. It probably will some day -- but that's not a priority.

I'm waiting like everyone else for those features. Wonderful job & idea. I had been waiting so long for this idea! I'm not into transcoding, & something simpler than The Big 3 is much desired. :) Having kids, I don't always have the time to backup my DVDs the Big 3 way. Thanks for DVD Rebuilder, for my DVDs it DOES currently work for it's a Blessing & has saved a few of my originals already. :) I do MIND if kids wreck my DVD+Rs, but Blanks are a LOT cheaper to replace than an original & cheaper than a Dual Layer burner.
Thanks to ALL who've helped to make Fair Use Fairly EASIER! You programmers Rock! :)

Is there a way to say Reencode the MultiAngle portions of a DVD on your own (Scenarist or whatever) to bring it down to size, and then hide it from DVDRB so that DVDRB can still process the DVD, but instead of processing that VTS, it treats it like one that doesn't need to be done. So the space for it is allocated, and DVDRB continues on it's way?
