Hey, I just got a new nec 2500a and have a couple different types of media that I have tried and am having trouble with it. I'm using dvd shrink 3.1.6 in combination with nero 6.0.0.0 I purchased a 25 pack of RiDATA 8x DVD+R's and I can only burn them at 4x. I also have a 50 pack of 4x FUJIFILM DVD-R'S that it will only burn at 2x. I flashed the firmware to 1.07 and that didn't change what I wanted it to. The drive is only about a week old. I had an nec 2500a in my computer before but I sold the old one to a friend that I was building a computer for and bought a new one. The old one worked fine in the computer. I never tried either of these types of media with the other burner I had. Thanks for your time and I'd appreciate any help you can give me.

Sounds like your firmware does not support those particular media types. NEC is not known for good media support in its official firmwares. Try using a hacked firmware.

nero 6.0.0.0
does not work! it has major problems writing video
and NERO have told everyone to update to version
6.0.0.22 or higher as versions below that are so buggy.

Thanks for the info, I updated nero to 6.3 and that was no help. I went and looked for a hacked firmware and found a binary version but I am not sure on hwo to flash it with that. If someone could tell me how or where to go to learn how that would be great, thanks.

You can download a Windows patcher from http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=25904&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=0
Just run the program and select to upgrade the drive, restart the PC and you're done!
Hope that helps.
