If it was a commercial DVD you have to decrypt it? Did you use DVDDecrypter?

this was a decrypted dvd, which now says yhte ifo format is incorrect - is there anyway to retireve the mpeg audio/video streams from the files and re-encode them??

@deviousdexter

I think what Jdobbs is trying to say is that we need more information from you as to how this file was put on your hard drive. For example; what program did you use to decrypt it, and what were its settings (file mode, IFO mode, ISO mode, stream processing, ect)? There's so many different factors that *could* cause a file not to work, we have to start from the ground up.

In answer to your second question -- regarding being able to strip streams from this file -- the answer is that there's possibly a way to do this... but it really depends on the information we'd get from the details of my first paragraph. Smartripper is capable of processing files already on your hard drive under Stream Processing Enabled; but again, let's start from the ground up on this one, because this might not be necessary.

Have you ever played a DVD file directly from your hard drive? Not trying to insult your intellegence one little bit -- I don't know your experience level at all, nor do I know YOU. But I've seen posts from people who didn't realize how to do it, and ran into trouble. If not, then click on the VIDEO_TS.IFO when opening your project with your software player. (Like I said: From the ground up!)

Give us a post back, and we'll try to help you out!

--Cheers!

I think dexter mightave just copied the VIDEO_TS dir off the DVD to the HD. Some dvd-rom drives let you do that, but the resulting files wont play unless the original is in the drive, or at all.

Dont forget you MUST have AUDIO_TS Directory even tho it will be empty

DVD Decrypter or SmartRipper will decrypt the files to a hard drive -- and they will play then (assuming you have an MPEG2 codec, of course. There are lots of freeware tools for retrieving the audio and video streams from the files once they are on your hard drive (like VOBEdit).

Thanks all for your help - i think jagx hit it on the head, i was in a rush when i did then copy and didnt copy the audio folder over( even though it is empty ;-) ) so i think was the problem. I have since re-ripped the dvd in question and made a working copy. DOH! sorry folks but it was my own stupid fault.

thanks again all

Some large studio factory DVD's dont have the AUDIO_TS dir, and I have always wondered how that can be if some players dont work without it. Must be a PAL-NTSC difference.
