I'm not sure what's wrong...I've been using dvd shrink to backup stuff for a while now, and today it failed during the burn and said there was a power calibration error.
I tried another disk and it said the same thing.
Then I tried my old reliable dvd decryptor and attempted to burn an ISO image I had made earlier...
It pops up a box that says
DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME) fAILED!
Device [1:0:0]_NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A 1.07 (F:)
Unable to lock volume for exclusive access.
Reason: Incorrect function.
Any clues????????????????????
:(
Ack just realized this is more of a burning issue and not a decrypting one..sorry about that! It should be in the forum I moderate :) oops. please move it for me ok?

it failed during the burn and said there was a power calibration error. I have this happen when there is media problems. Sometimes I can eject the disc, restart the process, and it will work. Sometimes I can burn at a slower speed and it works. Sometimes the disc goes to the bin.
Unable to lock volume for exclusive access. Reason: Incorrect function One odd ones like this, which happen once in a very long time, I found that doing a hard reboot will clear out the transient error.

Unable to lock volume for exclusive access.Sounds very familiar to me. I've had this a couple of times last week-end.. always after putting in a new disc after a burn failed at some stage. AFter a reboot things were back to normal.

According to several postings over at the dvddecrypter support forums, it might be other software interfering, esp. packet writing software (in another case some cd audio player with autorun features).

it might be other software interferingI had this happen with DD and I suspect it was some odd sequence of events with AnyDVD. DD was open and it was one of those quick set of click this-that to AnyDVD and then I started getting those kind of odd errors. AFter a clean reboot things came back to normal.

Ah it turns out it was dust!! I don't get it...I pulled these blanks directly off the spindle, and they had dust all over the burn side. They were in the middle of my 100pack but they actually combined two 50 packs, so it was the end of the 50 pack. Strange cause they were sandwiched between all these disks all this time...the dust must have gotten on it before they packaged it somehow.
Anyway, I couldn't see it at first cause it was dark and I didn't visually inspect the dvd in a bright enough light.

Ok, I'm stupid..it wasn't dust. It started doing it again, and the disks had NO dust at all on them. :(
I got power calibration errors on two disks..it started burning the lead in and then failed.
Now after a hard reboot, and trying the 3rd Ritek disk, it seems to be working, BUT, even though I told dvd decryptor to burn at 4x, it is only burning at 2x.
According to the disk info, it claims the disk supports 2x and 4x
verrry odd..

I am getting this error every time I try and burn an ISO with DVD Decrypter.
I have tried reboots, and can burn ISOs fine with Nero, but DVDDecrypter just doesn't want to work :(

Have you tried any other type of media? I had this once with some CDRs from a spindle (Power Calibration Error with some of them, not all)

mpawsey,
the 'lock volume' error is just because some other program has a 'handle' open to the drive. As such, my program cannot claim exclusive access. Either ignore the error or shut down whatever other app is causing the problem.
