Hiyas,
i searched for "capturing advertisement" but didnt come up with any result, and just advertisement revealead many threads not related to my following questions.
Please excuse my lack of knowledge about several issues, here my questions (after the questions just comes some babble, you can ignore that if you want, its not really that important - at least not until i know more and can more specifically address my questions.)
- Is there a way to apply filters to digital or analogue video input to block content like advertisement at once, or to do the opposite (filter all BUT advertisement for example) ?
- If so, can anyone give me some information or hints or URLs?
Its often easier to start digging into a topic if there are some good starting helps, or others sharing experience.
:)

- In Theory, it should be rather easy to write a simple program to cut advertisement while you are capturing content.
I initially had the idea that you can protect ie kids from some content, and then relais the information to a screen, without you having to worry that the content is "unsuited" (in your opinion, of course thats a very subjective point of view).
This would be like some sort of "smart" filter.
For example, you dont like teletubby because this is a truly silly idea, so you filter it out - and maybe run the simpsons or futurama instead. Well, i dont think anything can be worse than teletubby, but then again i am not sure if there are many good programs to watch for kids anyway. Best would be to not watch TV, but oh well ... I think that is not always possible, so it'd be better to "be prepared". ;)
Maybe one of the easiest filter for advertisement is to have an audio-filter related blocker. If it filters some words in combinations like "challenge everything", it would filter it out, +- some seconds.
Ie you could record the voice input, then add this recorded voice input into the list-which-shall-be-on-the-filter.
Or ... hmm, i have troubles to remember advertisements actually :) (dont like them, so i dont memorize them, but sadly especially the music often reminds me of them... i really HATE this kind of connection because i DO NOT want to think of ads, so i try to avoid listening ads wherever possible... for me the audio is even more "appealing" than fancy videos ... ok, music is a hook)
- For example, if the starting audio would match a classical song, you would cut a custom length of that information etc..
Ok, this sounds a bit confusing what i am writing here BUT the basic idea should be that it is NOT impossible to have a filter --> information sent to screen. Hmm.
- Other ideas would be to have programs to filter SPECIFICALLY programs which could be interesting. For example, i like reports like documentaries, sometimes science news (but they are often really stupid, biased and screwed). I would like the program to scan the channels, stay on a channel for some time to "look" at the content (matching with filters) to see if the content is ok or not, then decide if it shall record it.
After this pre-work, i wouldnt mind to investigate the information there - it would help to reduce some work, and often i only need 1-4 minutes of sth.
