Hi!

I have just bought a brand new dvd-rom LG 8162, and Nero cannot recognize any disc in it. I would like to copy a disc to disc.
Nero says: 'disc is empty' when checked with info.
'Cannot copy this disc to DVD' when try to copy with the copy function. Tried 'on the fly' on and off.
However the disc can be seen in wincmd, win explorer. Also can play movies on it.
Speed also a problem. Nero Drivespeed determined max speed to be 2,8x through experimenting. It should be 16x. DVD2SVCD ripping went with ~3000 Kb/sec, it is about the same, if I know well.
I suspect the DVDROM drive to be connected wrong. I have the folowing settings:
IDE cable 1:
M HDD 20GB
S HDD 120GB
IDE cable 2:
M LG DVD 4040B (my writer)
S LG DVD 8162 (my dvdrom)

Any idea would be welcome.

~2X read speed means the drive is not in DMA mode. PIO restrics the speed to a crawl.

You cant copy a pressed DVD using nero disc copy option, and you'd prolly need a dual layer disc to copy it unprocessed.

Thanks for the answear!

DMA was enalbed only in the BIOS, but not in the divice manager/IDE channels/advanced settings. After selecting 'DMA if available' speed increased. Nero Speedtest starts at ~2.6 and increases to 6-7 to the end of the disc (4.38 Gig DVD video on ritek G04). Max speed of the drive is 16x. Is this OK now? Or it should be better? I know, the media type and the data mode has an effect on reading speed.
