Hello, I am really puzzled by this:
I am trying to take a regular WAV, converting it to 48000hz, converting it to a 6ch WAV in Plogue Bidule, and then converting the 6ch WAV to AC3, so I can then burn to DVD. I've done this before with no problems, but now I receive this error:
BeSweet v1.5b22 by DSPguru.
--------------------------
Error 58: Error : Unknown Input-File Format : "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\InSoc1st\Track 02_6ch.wav".
Quiting...
[00:00:00:000] Conversion Completed !

Logging ends : 06/01/04 , 17:40:27.

My Command line is this:
"C:\Program Files\Gordian Knot\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\InSoc1st\Track 02_6ch.wav" -output "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Test.ac3" -logfilea "C:\Program Files\Gordian Knot\BeSweet.log" )

If anyone can tell me why this won't work, I would really appreciate it. I just can't seem to figure out what is different from when I used this method before. No program upgrades or replacements or anything, except I did have to install Plogue Bidule again because the beta version expired. That's the only thing that is different that I can think of.
Thanks in Advance

I've had the same problem. Look in the thread titled Besweet Problem to see what I've been going through.:)

Are you running XP or 2000?

I'm running XP...After reading that other thread, my outlook is somewhat dim. Seems like you tried everything everyone could think of...
It is so frustrating because this worked before. If I manage to figure it out, I'll definitely share:)

I'd sure appreciate it.

For me, it can't be Bidule because I get the same problem if I create a 6 channel mono wav with Adobe Audition and Bidule.

OK Hauser, after 15 long hours of frustration, we are back online!
If I weren't so diminished, I'd dance.
Anyway, I never did figure out why we're getting that error from BeSweet, maybe somone will clarify later.
The fix involves various programs, and thanks to Kpex. Here it is:
(It would've been easier with images, but I can't figure out how to upload JPEGS-oh well)

The 2 channel WAV no longer goes through Plogue Bidule. Instead I used upmixCLI & UpMixGUI instead. They are here:

http://www.freewebs.com/kpex/UpmiXv0.71.zip (right click > save as)
and here:
http://users.masternap.org/gircobain/UpMixGUI.zip

Now, we need three programs to make this work:
BeSweet (which you've got), Sox.exe, and EAC.exe, which I had to learn about. Those two are here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sox/
http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/

When you unzip the EAC folder, put it in the UpMix GUI folder.
After, you go through all the installation, open the UpMix GUI program. Just like the BeSweet GUI, you have to tell it where the .exe file is for all three of those programs.
Now, you should be ready.
On the Settings tab of UpMix GUI, Input is "Other" Output is "Dolby Digital 5.1 (ac3enc). Check the option "Resample to" and set it to 48000hz. Input file is a regular old 2.0 channel stereo WAV already on your hard drive. You might have to convert it from WMA with CDEX or Acoustica or something. Then click on UpMix! The program will look like it's not really doing anything, but if you open the folder called "Output" in the UpMixGUI012 directory, you can see it creating everything. Finally, you'll get a DVD compliant AC3 file (which is what we were trying to do with BeSweet).
From there, I was able to go my usual route with a still picture to avi in VDubMod, to an MPEG stream in TMPGEnc to bringing the AC3 in with TMPGEnc DVD Author.

Let me know how it works for you--I don't think you were doing exactly what I was, but hopefully you'll be able to navigate around the Error 58 message and achieve your end result as well.
Let me know if you run into any problems--I'll try to help.

Look slike BeSweet currently only handles no WAVE Format Extensible and no 24-bit.

So you must set 'never' for the WAVE Format Extensible (with Preference), and use 16 or 32 bit for the Audio File Writer with Plogue Bidule.

@kempfand & daphy:
Hi, I was hoping either one or both of you would post to this thread.

@kempfand:
I thought it may have had something to do with the header, and I'd tried manipulating the settings but I chose adaptive and always.
Your solution works wonderfully-Thank You:)

@Hauser:
Now, it seems we have two workable solutions:)

Also, does anyone know where the road of Plogue Bidule is heading?
I mean, this is a really wonderful program, and from what I read all of these versions are Beta tests, which implies an eventual commercial release. Does anyone know approximately how much this will cost when it is finalized? I don't want to get too addicted to it if it's going to be something like $5000-$10000
And if it always is going to be beta versions, who's to say we won't be right back where we were a couple of days ago when this latest beta version expires?

Also as an aside, I tried burning the same song (Wild Boys by Duran Duran) using the now workable Plogue method and the UpMix method I stated above. After hearing both, I must say the Plogue method is better (for me)-the music sounds richer. It seems the UpMix method would be ideal for movie dialogue stereo to 5.1, which is cool because it's much much faster than the Plogue method. Of course, I guess it all depends on your equipment and personal taste. What do you all think?

Good news!

There were work arounds but I became so stubborn trying to figure the problem out, I just about went nuts. That fact it was so simple pushed me over the edge.:D

oh man,

thx so much for that wave setting on 'never'. I almost threw my computer out of the window till I read this post! Hope bidule doesn't change so we can't use besweet anymore in the future:)
