View Full Version : Combining multiple 'movies' on one DVD?

Hi, I wasn't sure if this belongs in this forum or the advanced forum...
I use DVDShrink 3.1 to author my movies, and I was wondering how I can take multiple small movies and combine them into one.
I know I can play my movies on my computer by just putting them all in separate folders on the disc, but how do I go about taking several movies output by DVDShrink and making them play as one movie in my set top player?

If they are small enough to fit onto a disc, just use a authoring tool and go for it. If they are not small enough you will need to re-encode them at a lower bit-rate, or use a transcoder like ReJig to shrink them, then use a authoring tool. A simple and easy to use tool for this is tmpg DvdAuthor by Pegasys(has a fully functional 30 day trial period). They increase in complexity from there.

Can't even DVDShrink take two sets of VOB files and combine them to one DVD? I may be wrong - haven't used it myself - but I believe I have read that...

This is how I did it..
1) Used DVDshrink to rip just the 2 dvd movies to the Hdrive, no compression. (So I have 2 directories on hdrive with a full DVD in each with just the film, english audio and forced subtitles and english subtitles)
2) Open a fresh copy of DVDshrink and hit reauthor and browse to each dir of the ripped dvds.
3) Drag the two titles into the reauther section of dvdshrink (so now I have BOTH dvd's in the one DVDshrink project.
4) Make sure both films are set to no compression and click back up. (I now have a single dvd on hdrive of about 8.5GB with both the dvds on it)
5) Use DVDrebuilder to encode to dvdr size.

Okay, thanks for the pointer Jynks. I just want to clarify - DVD Rebuilder will take the separate titles and make them into a single title, yes? I'm going to be using this to make backups of episodic DVDs, and I want all the episodes on a disc to be a single title and play automatically in succession.
Also, note that I don't need (or want) any compression here, I just want to join the two titles into one. Everything is going to fit on a DVDR without any compression - do I still need to use DVD Rebuilder, or is there a simpler way?

I'm getting two errors.
1:
In DVD Rebuild, before project gets passed to QuEnc, I get:
Avisynth open failure:
Import: couldn't open "C:\DVD\NEW FOLDER\D2VAVS\.avs
This doesn't stop the process.
2:
After the project is passed to QuEnc, I get:
ERROR 0006: DVD-RB has found an inconsistency in source
data between the PREPARE and REBUILD phases
Aborting
I suspect 2 might have something to do with the fact that I'm trying to join titles that were "butchered" by DVD Shrink, but I don't know what's causing 1.

Seems that I had to go to a place that isn't "THE in-place" to find an answer :D
