Hi.
I just demuxed the video file, from a dvd using the 2,35:1 aspect ratio (big black bars on 4;3 television).

When i play the file in media player its okay, and I can see the big black bars.
But when I import the file into dvd maestro is stretched verticly. Now the big black bars are small black bars-

Its the first time it happens for me.

Please help. How can I get the big black bars in maestro aswell-

Ps. The filename after been ripped by dvddecrypter:

VTS_01_1 - 0xE0 - Video - MPEG-2 - 720x576 (PAL) - 16~9 - letterboxed.M2V

On the Maestro main window change the aspect ration for the movie from 4:3 to 16:9. U can find it at the bar, just below the subs area to your left.

Don't pay any attention to the simulator window as this is always 4:3 and it doesn't follow the movie's AR. The only way that u can check the settings u have forced on your movie by building a small part of the movie and test it in a real TV set.

It was the simluation window that got me grazy.
But nevertheless the simulation window usually shows the thing im gonna see on my 4:3 tv.

thats why im confused.

But i will try your advise.

By the way. Should i set it to 16:9 LB /PS or just 16:9 letterbox.
But i assume its the letterbox !

Thx for your help.

Finally. It did work. Thx a lot man...

I usually go into panic whenever there is somethingthat dont work.

I chose 16:9 letterbox in maestro.

By the way. Is there anyone knowing why software players never show the subtitles the place they are supposed to be shown.
Its really strange.
I have tried Nero DVD player, matrox and powercinema.

On my 4:3 tv set the subs for a certain movie are shown below the black bars. On every software dvdplayer they are shown above! Strange?

The position of the subs is not strange at all. every software dvd player uses Widescreen aspect ratio, so they must compress or squeeze or whatever you call it the 4:3 letterbox sub to 16:9 screening, except if you have 2 subs one for 4:3 and one for 16:9, as for the standalone, normally fora 4:3 tv it should be set to 4:3 letterbox or pan scan, so the subs will be virtually out of the active part of the picture.
