Hi, everyone...iam new to this forum :P
But iam not new to shrink. I used it for about 30 dvds now and no probs at all - this changed today.
Iam using Shrink Version 3.1.7.6-

I got the DVD of Lord of the Rings Return of the king today and startet as usual. I reauthored with just the film and only the german audioline.....after i pushed back up i realised that i forgot to select deep analysis. I canceled the back up process (it was around 10sec after starting it).....and pushed back up again to select that option but it freezed and with it the whole system. I was doing a reboot and the same thing happend again (i opened shrink opend disc pushed back up...freeze).
Now iam really frustrated.....i reinstalled the programm several times.....everytime the same. i tried a different dvd....the same. What can i do now to get the programm back working? Its impossible to format the harddrive :(

Edit: Now Ripped the DVD with DVDDecrypter and tried to shrink with the files stored on my hd.....freezes aswell :(

Search your C: for files Analysis*.* and delete them. There should be several from DVDShrink storing a new one for each disk you analyse.

In the form of "Analysis Results.*"

i guess that would have been the key...........but now iam already at around 25% of putting my system back to normal (iam back in the net hehe) after having formated the hd :(

but thx alot

Well........hahahahaha i dont know what to say.
My 160gb hd is divided into 5 hds..........u know what i mean. i formatet the c:/ hd...the system hd and installed a fresh system.
Guess whats still not working? Shrink! ((((((

Its impossible?! What can i do now?

Its Windows XP, i have 512mb ddr 333 ram..........i installed all codecs.........directx 9.0b......new forceware.........everything.
I dont get it

Edit: I figured something new out! First i was in "normal" WInXP and had run winamp in the background. Shrink freezes as usual and i did nothing for couple of minutes and my mp3 was still running but i could only hear a milisecond of it every few minutes. This means its not freezing but its like extrem lag. I was running WinXP in "save mode" (dunno what its called in english) afterwards and i started shrink again. This time it was not constantly "lagging". The window came up where you can change the back up options but the mouse was only moveable every 10sec or so for a short time then it lags again. So only the window that came up after pushing back up with the options makes the lag.....thats weird, cause the pc isnt doing anything in this time.......its not the actual analysis and coding progress. I was able to bring the windows task manager up and i could see that cpu usage was constantly at 100% ......going down to 7x% while i could move the mouse. The programm that causes the cpu usage was always the taskmgr.exe - but i thought this is only the windows task manager? Now iam completly confused.........why is shrink using the cpu like hell now when it wasnt doing this for month? I could listen to my mp3 through winamp, searching in edonkey for things and let it download, surf in the net without having performance probs the whole time

LordAgathoN, you could try and use DVD Shrink in "Low priority" mode - both selectable in the "Preferences" menu and "Backup!" window. ;)

What changes, if any, did you make to your system?

New hardware? New software? Windows update?...

Well, if nothing was change in your system there is absolutely no reason for this to happen.
Windows automatic updates?
Virus/Worm?
Damaged Hard-drive?
Is your PC overclocked?
Is it enough ventilated?

Hm well i apply Windows Updates .....but there were no updates in the last 7 days. My Harddrive is just a few month old......cant imagine that this could be the error.
My Pc is NOT overclocked.....and i tried it again after leaving it out for an hour......freezes again.

I'm affraid I have no idea then.
I can only suggest you uninstall the Windows updates.

2 things to try that are known to sometimes cause crashes.

1. untick preview when the dvd starts being analysed.

2. untick burn with nero in dvdshrink preferences.

1 is the most likly culprit for you.

1.) I Should uncheck "Enable Video Preview"? Well i have that one unchecked all the time...

2).) I will test the second one now.......unchecked "Enable burning with nero" in the Preferences.....

Edit:
WOOOOOOHOOOOOO ......seems to work...... I have no time to really test it now, but i will tomorrow. But the "Backup" window opened where u can change settings for the last time......it was encoding till 10% and i broke up. I guess i can burn it afterwards with nero....hope it isnt freezing there instead.

Thanks alot you two........i owe u one :D
