View Full Version : BeSplit - Problems spliting MP3 File

Hi folks! I'm a newbie here so please forgive me if I'm posting something that has already been discussed.

I've ripped an AC3 audio stream from a DVD using DVDDecrypter Demux feature, transcoded it to MP3 VBR (--alt-preset standard) using BeSweet, and now I'm trying to split it in tracks according to each DVD chapter time.

To do this I'm using Chapter-X-tractor to process the VOB and generate the BeSplit command, as suggested by DSPguru. This is the point where I have some questions and problems:

1) The AC3 file demuxed by DVDDecrypter says DELAY 306ms. Should I use this value as Offset for Chapter-X-tractor to get a perfect chapter-time split, or is this value used only for audio-video sync purposes? If first was correct, should I use this value as a negative or positive offset?

2) It seems BeSplit works fine for AC3 and WAV files, but after I split the large MP3 in pieces (yes, I´ve used -type mp3), somethings just go wrong:

a) The audio leght is incorrect (as shown in Winamp 5), even after I run BeSplit -fix, it doesn't seem to change anything at all. Winamp shows the original lenght of the source large MP3 as lenght for each track. I had to use a program named VBRFix 5.3.15 to really correct it. Is this a bug in BeSplit?

b) Some tracks have a big POP in the begginig (I checked, it wasn't there in the source MP3). Again, BeSplit -fix won't change it and VBRFix seems to fix it!

What is happening? Is it safe/correct to use this VBRFix prog? Should't BeSplit do the things VBRFix is doing?

I hope I had been clear enough. Thank you all for helping!
