Do somebody know how to install the new version of Lame Mp3 encoder (3.97). There are no information about installing in the rar or zip file.
Please help!

For the DLL and EXE no installation is needed. Just copy them where you'd like to have them.
To install the ACM version, right click the LameACM.inf and choose "Install".

Hi, my idea is to use Lame with TMPGEnc and to produce and avi file, I did you sugestion, but TMPGEnc seems not to recognize the Lame Mp3 encoder. I put the exe and dll where the TMPGEnc files are and I select the external MPEG Layer-3... When you choose in TMPGEnc: File/Output to file/AVI file/Audio Settings: No lame Mp3 encoder is there.
Please help!

For TMPGEnc you have to right-click the "LameACM.inf" and chose "install" (like Brother John said it before). TMPGEnc needs the ACM-Version of the codec.

Well, before I make a mistake I would like to know how sure is the version of Lame 3.96... I wanted to install it, but it does not pass the test of Windows XP... and the next version (Lame 3.97) has not "LameACM.inf" file.
What should I do?

Well guys, finally I installed the Lame ACM 3.96, besides the dialog box by Windows... but it does not work at all. With TMPGEnc, no audio at all.
I wanted to know if the encoder is working... then I try with River Past Audio Converter, I selected MPEG Layer-3 and it can not encode at all.
Please, tell me what to do before I get totally mad!! :scared:

hi! latest recommended lame version for quality encoding is 3.90.3 (but 3.96 will do just fine :) )
i tried using the lame 3.90.3/3.96 exe versions (from rarewares.org) with latest tmpgenc, and it worked great. here's my settings:
option > enviromental settings > audio engine > external mpeg layer III encoder > d:\utils\lame.exe
main window > setting > stream type mpeg-1 layer III
if it still doesn't work, or you want to do audio separately, i'd recommend lamedropxpd 1.3.3 from:
http://www.rarewares.org/mp3.html
right click the window and adjust the settings, and then just drag-and-drop your wave file in it :) easy.

Well, very good if you want to create a SVCD with mp3... it works fine, TMPGEnc recognize the external Lame Mp3 encoder device... but, if you want to create an avi file with TMPGEnc, I need the LameACM as an encoder... and it is not woking!
The same case with River Past Audio Converter, when you select "MPEG Layer-3" (192 Kbs, for example) the River Past AC try to encode, but nothing comes out from it. It is the same reason why TMPGEnc can not insert the mp3 into the avi file.
Please, some more help!

Why would you want to create an AVI with TMPGEnc?
AviSynth/VDub is much more suitable for that task.

Good question! I was asked many times because of that... I just want to create an avi file with TMPGEnc.
I know there are probably better possibilities, actually I use more Dr. DivX and it works fine, but I would like to have some others possibilities too, why not?
So, please somebody help me with this! :(

ok, this is just plain stupid. if you're making an avi file with mp3 audio, you can mux the video and audio together with virtualdub(mod) or avi-mux gui just to name few. you can still encode the video with tmpgenc if you really really want to but if the audio isn't working then your worries will end if you just use some different prog. just my 2c :)

Yes! you are right! I've nothing to say about that, in fact, I de-installed the Lame ACM and installed the Radium Codec, it works better, at least it works with the River Past Audio Converter, no luck at all with TMPGEnc, still no audio.
Sure I will use another program, pitty, it is nice to have a second option.

What good is a second option if it doesn't work properly?
Besides if you use Dr. DivX and VDubMod that's two alternatives all the same. :)

I don't use VDubMod, I use Dr. DivX...
As a second choice: TMPGEnc, now not anymore.

That's what I meant: Swap TMPGEnc for AviSynth/VDubMod as a second option. Plus maybe BeSweet for best audio quality.

It is probably a compilation of code from the CVS (developement code)
