Copy protection errors DVD Shrink

My friend gets copy protection errors in DVD Shrink more often than not having tried both versions 3.1.6 and 3.1.7. I have only had that happen to me once out of many uses and I was able to get around it by using SmartRipper in movie mode and opening Shrink and using the reauthor button at the top, navigating to the folder containing the ripped files from SmartRipper and proceeding as normal from there.

My friend has tried this and it worked one time. The next movie that she tried it with; nothing showed up in Shrink when navigating to the folder that the files from SmartRipper were in. I have no idea why.

What is the best method here if you need to use a separate ripper in combination with DVD Shrink because Shrink can not rip due to copy protection errors?

Is your friend creating VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS folders putting files in them and pointing shrink to them?

NOTE: The only time I've gotten protection errors with shrink was because of scratched discs.

Your friend could also try unchecking "Enable burning with Nero" in the "Edit >> Preferences >> File I/O" menu.
