Hi all, in my attempts to use dvdrb the prepare and encode steps will go fine, however as soon as I attempt to rebuild, I will get a buffer overflow error 5. I've tried versions .49b through the newest version .51b, and have yet to rebuild the file without the process being aborted because of the buffer overflow error. This leads me to believe there is something that i'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated, thanx. Ohh, and i'm using CCE Basic for the encoding.

To the mods, I apologize for not reading all the prior threads. A cursory glance at some prior threads and from what I gather this error results from using dvd rb as a post proccessor. I have been using DVD Remake to edit the menus and cut the end credits prior to running the DVD RB. I will now try without any editing with DVD Remake. Again, I apologize.

problem still persits! Even though i'm just ripping the movie and loading it directly in DVDRB it keeps coming up with this buffer overflow error. As per a suggestion in another thread about buffer overflow problems I even updated my version of Avisynth to 2.54 (I had been using 2.53). I cannot get past this error 0004 during the rebuild stage. any and all suggestions welcome.

What movie is it and is that segment with the error in another separate VTS? if so, you can rename it (the entire VTS files) to .VOB~ .BUP~ .IFO~ etc (new name that dvdrb will not process), prepare, encode, rebuild, and copy the renamed files over to the new VIDEO_TS (and name back to original names). This way dvdrb will not process them but will compensate for its size.

Thanx for the reply Joergen, no unfortunately the DVD in question 'The Last Emperor' only has 1 VTS which includes the main film and a theatrical trailer (the only extra), so the method you suggested isn't possible.

Ok, I'm at the end of my rope with the error 4 overflow as well. Here are my settings:
[Paths]
CCEBasic=C:\Program Files\Custom Technology\Cinema Craft Encoder Basic\cct2.exe
MPEG2DEC=C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\MPEG2Dec3dg.dll
Source=C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\MICHAEL\DESKTOP\CRADLE2THEGRAVE\
Working=C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\MICHAEL\DESKTOP\PATH\
[Options]
LoadPlugin=1
OneClick=1
CCE=2
[CCEOptions]
VBR_bias=25
Quality_prec=16
eclPasses=2
OPV=0
I know there are no problems of old software competing with new software, since my computer is just recently reformatted. And I have the newest version of DVD Decrypter, so that's not the source of m problems. Just during the rebuilding phase, I get that darn 0004 overflow error! And just FYI, I've tried backing up House of the Dead, Matrix Reloaded, Matrix Revolutions, Kill Bill vol. 1, The Last Samurai, and Cradle 2 the Grave, and the exact same error persists through all of them! Please, please help! And if anyone here points out that my configuration settings are wrong, I'm sorry for wasting all of your time.
On an interesting sidenote, I did get a copy of The Last Samurai done perfectly using QuEnc mode, so maybe this is just a CCE Basic problem?

To those of you receiving the Buffer Overflow I would suggest installing and running Prime95 for 24 hours at least. This will verify your hardware. I too was receiving these Buffer Overflows and discovered my Kingston HyperX ram modules failed the Prime95 torture test. Also if you are overclocking back off the speed to rated/stable levels to run this program. See JDobbs wonderful program even helped me debug my system. I RMA'd my old modules to Kingston then ran my system for a week on Prime95 with the new modules installed in my Asus A7N8X Deluxe set to aggressive at 200Mhz(400DDR) Barton XP3200+ @ 2.25Ghz with no errors. This is my 3rd system on my network so it's only used for crunching. And I haven't seen the Buffer Overflow since. Roughly 20 transcodes.
Hopefully this will help someone.

@ Happycase
If QuEnc worked for you in the past, I would just use it and discard CCE Basic. Based on your observation, I tried encoding the same DVD with CCE SP and it worked fine. I will now be using it untill whatever is causing the error with CCE Basic is figured out.

@newb1
A few questions:
Have tried playing the .AVS files with Windows Media Player?
Have you tried it with any other titles?
Have you viewed any of the .M2V files from the encode phase to see if they encoded properly?
What is the size of your ...\D2VAVS directory after running?

similar problem here,
TV Series DVD , 8 Episodes on the DVD.
Error occurs when dvdrb tries to mux the 2nd segment and reads from source (think it's the ac3 audio). avs files play fine, like the re-encoded m2vs...
dunno what's causing this... if it's an encondig error or problem while muxing.
size of D2VAVS-Directory is 3.96gb
used CCE SP btw, and i already done 3 encodes with dvdrb, this is the first one with an error
