After a fairly long delay, I've decided that the new builds of ScenAid are stable enough to open to a larger scope of people for testing.

As such, ScenAid build 0.9.0.23 (RC3) is now available for download from www.sceneaid.com

This build represents a complete redesign of ScenAid including many new features such as:

Scenarist Automation
Integration with BatchCCEWS
Ability to fix audio assets so they are the same length as video (for seamless connections)
Graphical display of the found IFO layouts

For a full list of options/selections, please take a look at the now included helpfile

Please post any problems / errors here

D3s7,
Congratulations on your recent promotion! Your knowledge will be a great asset to the team.

And may I be the first to thankyou for your continued efforts in improving Scenaid. I know there will be many users grateful for this new release - the new features list is very impressive indeed.

I downloaded the new release and installed it here on my work pc but unfortunately i get this error when it loads the program:
"run-time error 429: ActiveX component cant create object"
i am sure it is probably something 'backward' i have done but if you have any thoughts on how to fix this it would be appreciated. running xp-pro on a xeon processor.

keep up the good work

cheers

Thanks Jel!

Well that's what I get for packaging something at night :)

I packaged the wrong error handler into the installer... the "fixed" version is up there now.. If you've installed already, please download again and reinstall

Sorry guys (just glad it was something simple :D)

Already beta tested it on some titles and it seems to work really well. This title didn't work on the previous version and works now (angles, vobid demux). Subs are all ok as well :)

I especially like the automate scenarist functionality.

Nice work d3s7!

Congratulation D3s7,

you have done a super job, the first tests with VOBID were solved proberly by Scenaid.

Thank you for the great tool!

Ah, this is great news and I will download it asap, and try it on some of my "problem movies". :)

A quick question though: Does it import subs this time, or is it the same procedure as before?

Great work!

influenza

Yes it imports subs (as did my previous version?). Sub assigments are greatly improved though :)

Great!
I just downloaded it and reading the help file right now. It seems really terrific, and I'm truly impressed. :)

Only thing now, is that I have to overwin my fears of upgrading my working progs to newer ones (AVIdg, Batch etc.)...:D

servus...

How long will it take to generate the movie?
Scenaid is now working for 3 hours without showing me anything?!
Scenarist havenīt started and so Iīm a little bit confused about it.

Is it correct to start it with DIF4U after BatchCCE ?
So DIF4U is still open.

I donīt know whatīs going on?

Any ideas?

D3s7
31st May 2004, 18:20
fourtyfour : depends on your settings....

my current procedure (what I use is this)

doitfast4u then Scenaid which calls BatchCCE then when encoding is finished calls Scenarist

if you look in your demux directory there should be a scenaid.log file which more or less shows what'sin the status window but might give you clue to where it's at in the process...

Feel free to send that to me if you think something's going wrong

servus...

I stopped the other attemp and started it without batchcce mode.

I made it the "old way" with DIF4U + batchcce and scenaid

So I opend scenaid and loaded the DIF4U directory:

Here are my last 3 entries in log file:

(31.05.2004 19:34:38) - Generating Subs for VTS02 asset P3 stream 03
(31.05.2004 19:34:38) - Generating Subs for VTS02 asset P3 stream 04
(31.05.2004 19:34:38) * Generating Track information

Scenaid shows me no response and needs a lot of system power.

I canīt imagine, why it needs almost 2 hours now for creating a script?
Scenarist isnīt opened yet

Scenaid30 script time: 19:34

let me add some additional debug info to the log file and will let you know when that's ready.

I've had it stall before but never there...

OK, turned subs off in scenaid. Seemed to parse dif4u output dir ok. Hit generate script. Froze up, pegged CPU to 99%

Checking why you would be getting that error.. (has to do with Closed Caption files).

It appears it's not finding the right asset to match to.. if you could give me a dir listing of *.scc files for the video in question it probably would help... email or PM thatto me if you could (so we don't flood the forum)

Thanks

D3s7
1st June 2004, 00:29
Wow.. that filename is totally different then the ones when I tested... I'll have to adjust the code accordingly.

If your not interested in closed caption, you can always delete the *.scc files and ScenAid will ignore the dirs

What version of DoItFast4u! did you demux with?

i tried ScenAid on one of my problem Movies, it was demuxed by VOBID.

Loading the demux directory into ScenAid worked super, but at generating the Script it hangs at Generating Track information.

Now it tries to generate the Script for 12Hours, so i canceled the script genarating.

Does ScenAid have the ability to call DoCCE4U or must I switch to BatchCCEWS? Also, if ScenAid doesn't call DoCCE4U but I happen to envoke it manually will things work out alright? Thanks!

jel

pcm1ke

although i have not had the opportunity yet to use the new release (damn home pc has bit the dust ....again :( )' from what i understand, Senaid now utilises a few of the recent additions/fixes of BatchCCE to correctly place 'I' frames at scene/cell locations, which will fix a lot of the errors/warnings received in scenarist.

(*jel imposes a strike on himself for gratuitous use of the '/' symbol)

anyway, so yes, i would highly recommend updating to the latest BatchCCE and running it via Scenaid

pcm1ke
2nd June 2004, 08:13
Thanks for the timely response jel. I'll go ahead and install BatchCCEWS and try this movie. ;)

EDIT
----
Alright, it was my fault.. I won't say what I did wrong because its quite embarassing. Anyhow, ScenAid made the script in under 10secs and I'm now encoding the movie. Hopefully it comes out nicely (subs working, audio working.. and both synced). I'll let you know!

THANK YOU D3s7!

answer to edit 1:
its to fix the length of the audio track, after the delay has been fixed by DIF4U.
it is primarily for seamless connection of cells ina vobid demux.
in pgc demux it isnt usually required but it wont do any harm (that i know of) to have it selected anyway.

answer to edit 2:
hmmm... definitely one for D3s7 to handle i'm afraid.

D3s7
2nd June 2004, 13:23
Hmm.. seems to be a number of people saying they are having the hang up issues when generating the tracks...

If you are one of them could you to please send me your ScenAid.log and ScenAid.SCP files (zipped if you could please)

pcm1ke: to answer your question, yes.. the last version of DoCCE also supports the new file format. I have had a few other people request I add that as an option so I probably will

pcm1ke
2nd June 2004, 13:44
Alright, I'll admit my stupid mistake. The mistake was forgetting to actually select "demux by vobid." I hit "GO" too soon. I saw DIF4U deselect dupped PGC's and I just hit "GO." After going back and selecting all the PGC's and selecting "demux by vobid" ScenAid generated the script in 10secs. There you had it kids, be sure to actually select "demux by vobid!"

Alright D3s7, one issue arose upon trying to mux:

ErrorScenarist only supports sequential flags.
ErrorRefer to Subpicure availability flags in Title<VTS1_Title3> in property sheet.
ErrorPreCheck From DB failed
ErrorDVD files could not be created

VTS1 has 3 PGCs:
PGC 1 = subpic stream 1,2
PGC 2 = subpic stream 1
PGC 3 = subpic stream 2

In order to get it to mux I had to select 1,2 for PGC3. Still going as we speak.....

EDIT
----
Aside from the above I also had to do some manual work in ifoedit to fix some audio issues and other stuff. I must say the original author of this DVD was asleep at the computer when he did this DVD. On all menus there are 6+ audio streams listed (when using powerdvd) and over 30+ subtitle streams among other weird crap. Once I got done with this DVD and burned it I felt a sense of accomplishment. ScenAid worked flawlessly (except for the subpic thing above)! Thank you so much D3s7!! :sly:

D3s7
3rd June 2004, 21:49
hmm... i thought (and was hoping) that the sub assignments like that were resolved... I'd be insterested in seeing the ifo and script file if you wouldn't mind zipping it up and sending it over.

Glad to see that this was the only issue keeping it from compiling

On a general note: new build is around the corner which fixes a few things including the "Hanging" issue when generating the script (Thanks to all those who tested for me)

Tried looking the program up from different places, but it seems that www.sceneaid.com is the only place to get it.

What is your demux directory? for whatever reason it sounds like it can't create the log file...... Is there spaces in your dir by chance?

Hello, D3s:

Well, actually the error messages occur before setting any demux directory. They appear just when I click the link to SceneAid.

When started by DoItFast4U (1.4.7) SceneAid opened without visible errors (although it didn't create the script, I had to point it the directory by hand, but that may have been my fault since I didn't select the "Generate Script after scanning directory (one click run)" nor the "Exit after generating script" options).

Anyhow both my disks have enough free space and I always make sure that no paths (either for demux or SceneAid) have spaces in them.

Since you state that the error messages are log related I noticed that at least once SceneAid tried to create a log on my C and T drives root dir (but I can't remember if that was while logged as administrator or regular user) and that is one place my regular user has no write access. Anyhow I created the C:\SceneAid.log and T:\SceneAid.log files and gave them full control to my regular user but the errors persist. Isn't the default place for the log file the SceneAid install dir? I can't get or give more information, since I can't figure out where is SceneAid trying to create the log file.

BTW, I tried to run SceneAid giving it my demux dir "T:\DVD\DVDVolume" as a parameter but the errors still occur and it still needs me to set the path by hand inside the program.

Hello, everybody:

I have a question related to the automatic scan and run of SceneAid. Although I have "Generate Script after scanning directory (one click run)", "Exit after generating script" and the "Import Script into Scenarist" and "Start Compile after Import" Scenarist options checked, SceneAid doesn't scan the directory, as previous versions did, when started by DoItFast4U!.

If I manually select the demux directory it runs OK (all options are honoured), so is this related to SceneAid not recognizing the parameters that DoItFast4U! is passing it or is it because the latest DoItFast4U! (1.4.7) isn't yet up to date with this new SceneAid?

Thank you,
